I'm in Goose Creek also. Still have power but definitely have some yardwork tomorrow along with pool cleanup. Stay safe brother.

Here in Goose Creek. Everything is OK for now. Here's something that I noticed.

Hurricane Hugo temperature: 85 degrees

Ian: 62 degrees.

I heard a couple of distant booms. Not sure if it was transformers blowing or trees coming down.

New Hanahan here. Still have power, but it’s been flickering. Maybe another hour or two of the worst and it’ll be gone

Mount Pleasant, here, towards Awedaw

Sep 30, 2022, 12:30 PM

High winds (50-60 mph gusts), sporatic rain, very cold. No flooding. Lights have flickered. Palm branches everywhere, but the neighbor's trampoline hasn't moved an inch.

I'm in Charleston and have lost power twice with the longest time being 30 minutes.

Lots of rain and wind-just thankful it's a Cat 1 and not larger.

West Ashley here.

Wife & I left our house on the Stono River yesterday for daughter’s higher ground house out Hwy 61 near the Old Episcopal Church. Lost two cars to 2017 Irma flooding & didn’t want to repeat that.

Looks like Ian is hitting north of Charleston so the majorly of wind, rain and storm surge, will concentrate from Mt Pleasant to Georgetown area. Really reminds me of the same scenario in 1989s Hurricane Hugo.

We dodged another bullet - but pray for McClellanville area!

Go Tigers!

Something I noticed recently that may matter for damage. Look at old neighborhoods and notice what you don't see. Several pine trees. Before Hugo old neighborhoods had plenty of pine trees but most came down due to lighter weights and more shallow root systems. You still see some. I've noticed places that were built post Hugo have several groves of pine trees. They were protected by other trees but are now exposed due to the newer builds. Pine trees were a scourge from Hugo as most of the trees blocking roads were pines.

Getting the heavy rain and wind here in Eutawville now. Walked out on the front porch 20 minutes ago and the water is slamming the heck out of the sea wall.

I am in Debordieu and Ian came right over us. No power and the surge on top of the high tide is awful. Never seen it this high.

My sister on Johns Island just texted me that they just lost power. She had been sending pics of a lot of rain and pretty stiff wind gusts.

Park Circle here. Lots of limbs and a few trees down. Lost power once and it came right back on. Downtown is flooded and a few big trees down. Stay safe!
