But I have a barometer that you can use to judge immediately if and when appropriate changes are coming.
1) Both Swinney boys are gone.
2) All friends who came directly from high school coaching to Clemson are gone.
3) All former players who came to Clemson staff with zero coaching experience are gone.
4) All the dieticians who are feeding these players a diet heavy in vegetarian cuisine need to go. You cannot build speed and muscle using salads for fuel.
5) Use the DOGE philosophy and make everyone in that building tell you 5 things they accomplished last week which helped Clemson win football games. If they can't, then gonzo.
6) Every coach, every assistant, every secretary, every staffer, every former player must accomplish some goal which helps Clemson win football games. If they can't, then gonzo.
7) Clean out the S&C Staff when Joey retires and go out and hire the best available. Nothing that staff does works.
8) Eliminate all programs and activities that do not contribute directly to the winning of football games. This is not a rehab center or an employment office. There are ministers and counselors on campus to do that.

Yeah, you could talk to the big boys and tell them to move money to nil. I'm sure a portion of iptay goes for staff salary.
But we are bloated with staff as wild hogg said.

Agree and one more thing. Is keeping that coach till the end of the year going to help the team win even one game other than Furman? If no then go e immediately example Conn. He should have been gone immediately after the whistle Saturday.

This is what it will take, but I am not sure Clemson has the will to do what has to be done. Reducing the bloat is critical, but so is refocusing on acquiring the best possible players. Most of those players are NOT in high school right now. Our "development" program needs to be small, very small. Or better yet, farmed out to a smaller school or a private player training program. I also think we are going to have to embrace cutting players. No one wants it, but this is the business now. Everyone dressing needs to be getting paid and if you are not good enough for that, you need to move on.

If we recruit hs and portal correctly then you shouldn't have to cut from a 105 roster. That's roughly what the NFL has but they have guys on the practice squad who could play... saying, your scout team can't be friends and family or walk ons. Maybe 10 could because it's good for culture and you never know.
But there's some good g5 and d2 players that would jump at coming to Clemson and be a part of the scout team. I'm talking sophomores that played for 2 years. They're getting a nice check.

100% agree. We have become bloated. Danny Ford would not have during the game any player that would not see action that day on the sideline. He wanted no distractions to the game and coaching on the sideline.

Agreed on almost everything except for minor tweaks in the firings. Per this, Riley and Allen are retained as OC/DC. Luke and Reed are retained.
On point 2 - fire Richardson and Conn - OK
On point 3 - fire Grisham, Spiller, Boyd, Boulware, McDaniel, who else? I would probably keep Grisham and let either Eason or Rumph go, or both. Good with the rest of them finding some experience anywhere else.
I would add culling the roster of all the players who have been here more than 2 years and have never contributed. You have to treat it like a NFL 53 man roster now. If you are not contributing to winning games like you said, bye.

In today’s game if you are not getting paid then you don’t need to be on the team. If not getting paid then you are probably not helping.
