CFB Scheduling change

Just for fun, think of the following.

No conference's for CFB. Each school would pick 6 permanent teams to play each year.
Both schools would have to agree of course.

Example: Clemson might would play.
FSU, SC, GA Tech, NC State, GA, WF.

A college football scheduling committee would be formed to create the other 6 games.
The committee would be made up of past coaches and players. The idea is to create interesting matchups. The committee would try to give each team 2 hard games, 2 medium games and 2 easy games.

Example: Clemson at Michigan and home against Oregon for the hard games.

Clemson at Colorado and home against Florida for the medium games.

Clemson at East Carolina and home against Kansas for the easy games.

I think it's way more exciting when Clemson plays different teams than the same teams every year. The numbers could be adjusted from 6 permanent teams up or down.
You could also have everyone play a lower divisional team every year giving everyone 7 home games. I think this would help identify who the better teams are since there's a huge cross reference of games to look at.

I don't care who we play as long as it's teams with talent equal to ours over these dead A$$ ACC teams that we play against year in and year out!!!

Playing these dead ACC teams every year is why Clemson will be in the playoffs consistently. The more you make it the better chance you have to win one. I am more in the boat of play the weakest schedule you can to win the conference and see what happens then.

I totally agree with the idea of a committee formulating the non-conference schedule.

I would propose keep the conferences but shrink them all to 10 teams period. You play your 9 conference opponents and best record wins the conference.

For the other 3 non-conference games, every team keeps their rival (if not among conference peers) and a committee formulates a random home and away for the other two teams each year. If you don't have a permanent annual rival, then committee would work 3 random opponents into your schedule. All opponents are FBS only.

In this scenario, I would dictate that there would only be 110 FBS teams so 26 of them will have to move down to FCS. So that leaves 11 conference champs and 5 wild cards for 16 team playoff.

I think that ND is ahead of the curve and the 32, 64, or whatever number it is top football teams will be independent. Those teams will be divided into divisions and the top how many will advance to a playoff. WF is not going to sniff the new football setup. They will remain with the other schools that have chosen to not invest in football. I believe the other sports will stay with the conference setup.
