Joungers, GITT and tell me how your wife/SO reacts to you telling her no

because mine doesn't ####### listen.
We have three dogs, 6 chickens, and a cat. Yet she keeps letting the kids get random other animals. Fishes, Daughter of got guinea pigs for Christmas one year. A year later we are begging other people to take these animals because it's such a pain cleaning their cage.
After that I told wife of NO. MORE. ANIMALS. She got pissed off when I said no but she said ok.
A few month later son of got a gecko. She went behind my back and bought it because he wanted it. Problem with son of is he is about as ADHD as you can get. No we haven't started medication because it isn't effecting his school work yet. But he is definitely not mature enough for his own animal. Especially an animal that requires certain temperatures and other additional considerations more so than say a fish.
And last night was the perfect example. Without checking the water temp (which was scalding) he put his gecko in the water to help it peel. Well now it's legs are done. It's moving, it's alive, and able to crawl like a snake but I don't think it's going to survive much longer. An unfortunate learning lesson towards being a man where you take your time and double check to make sure you are doing right by the people (or animals) that are entrusted to your care
So once again, in a much more stern tone I told wife of NO. #######. NEW. ANIMALS. Because apparently the tone I used last time didn't work.
And that's when the fight started because how dare I 1. tell her no and 2. use that tone with her.

Whats missing from the relationship that she feels the need to bring more living things into the fold?
Id ask her if to really think over why she cant say no, and if she herself feels like something is missing from the relationship...maybe?

Ahhh ok. Sounds like you need to get her, or offer to get her, a small piece of land, barn and some animals. That way the onerous is on her and kiddos vs you to maintain such extra responsibilities.

It takes mere seconds to see the problem and the solution here.

The problem is that your wife has not been conditioned.
The solution is to lock her in a closet with headphones duct-taped to her head and force her to listen to the complete works of hootie at max volume on an endless loop for an extended period of time until she capitulates.
It's harsh, and I know there is a risk of brain damage, but it's the only way to deal with this situation once you discover that sharing memes on her Facebook page every day about responsible parenting is no longer working.

Giving either of us ultimatums is a failure. We'll do the opposite to prove we can. So we are much more productive with talking it out and explaining to the other how we feel when the other person goes against our wishes and why.
Took us a few years to figure that out. We also had to learn how to get over some of the stuff the other does and just let it be. I like experiences, she likes things. So she learned to stop giving me #### about what I spend at happy hour or hanging with the boys, and I stopped harassing her about buying another expensive purse to add to her collection of 50 or 60 (seriously, she has that many).

You worry about your wife too much. DGAF and worry more about Facebook Coach. She will drag you down to her level if you don't, and that's a place you probably don't want to be.
I'll give you an example. My wife knows better, but she tried nonetheless yesterday. See, her aunt died. She wasn't close to this aunt, was from her father's side of the family, who I was told are redneck, trash, axe murderers. Come to find out her father's family is leaps ahead of her mother's family. Her mom denigrated her inlaws constantly while wife was growing up because she was an insecure neck from BFE, and they were refined, landed southern gentry from the lowcountry. She outkicked her coverage. Same with my wife. Same with wife's grandmother. Apple/Tree.
ANYWAY.....her father's sister dies. Wife comes in, I'm ####ing on the toilet. She then goes off on a RANT about how the obit had her dad living in Irmo and not West Columbia. Then they left out the parents in the obit. And she was ALL WORKED UP about this and how improper it was and serves them right, and they're idiots, and whatever else.
I immediately acted appalled. I almost fell off the toilet. I couldn't believe the audacity to write up and obit with the wrong town for her dad, and no mention of parents. HOW DARE THEY!!!! (I yelled) Wife knew....immediately, she had made a mistake. I told her you've spent years talking trash about your father's family. "WHO GIVES A ####." I was clearly faking giving a rats ### about the obit. I was sad she passed, and sent my condolences, and that's that. But noooo....wife had to freaking critique the obit. I'm like whatever. And wife then says she's just so happy to see them screw up the obit, fitting for them. I swear at that moment my wife was uglier than #### Butkus. I then politely told her I'm glad she came to me and didn't talk like this around our children, they may end up being yet another generation of insecure, petulant redneck #####es. Told her she's acting 10x uglier than the obit she's complaining about.
She then walked out ticked, then called her sister, who plays up to her BS.
I'm sorry, but you will see the light someday.

All I'm saying.
I mean my wife did the same thing. I said NO dog. Kids wanted a dog. I said no, because the dog, or breeds I liked, wife says no to all of them. Wife then picks out a BAD breed, told her it was a bad breed, and then finds a puppy mill to get the dog from, told her THAT was a bad idea on top of another. Yall probably remember this.
I said bad idea. I said no. I said don't do it. She did it anyway.
Dog ended up biting two of our three kids and tearing up the furniture, the carpets, and whatever else. The dog was rehomed. EXACTLY what yall said would happen, or someone in here did, and I knew they were right.

This is one non negotiable I have with my wife. She must respect the Sanctity of the Poo.
No talking to me. No walking in. Absolutely no interruptions. Once my ### hits the toilet, I am to be completely undisturbed.
