Car Lover's Challenge

This exquisite beauty with the clear-glass roof is the 1956 concept version of a somewhat mundane looking production car. It even has a backup camera installed, maybe the first ever.

The production model ran from 1971-1973 with over 110,000 units and was manufactured by Buick. A clue is that the car does not have the usual Buick tri-shield emblem.

What did this concept car lead to?

I don't know if it meets the other criteria - i think it was in production much longer than that.

Yep, it's the Centurion. Here's the 72 convertible version. Not a bad looking car but nowhere near as sweet as that concept version.



And now for the emblem, which might be a trivia question itself. How many times did manufacturers abandon their staple emblem on a specific car model? I have no idea. I guess it's like using a kitten instead of the lion in the MGM logo. Doesn't haven very often.
