Good morning everybody. How was your weekend?

Friday night, easy evening at home as I was getting up at 4 am to cook a brisket.
Saturday up at 4:30 am to cook a brisket. I think I got it on by 5:30 things were going well until the 4th time I had to feed coals, I put in way too many and ended up fighting with the fire the rest of the day. Meat turned out pretty good though. My buddy and his folks came over to celebrate his birthday and a grand time was had.
Sunday, lazy. I should have mown the lawn but my legs were tired.

It's pretty simple
May 3, 2021, 8:23 AM
|
|
Brine them about two hours in half gallon of water, half cup of brown sugar, half cup of Kosher salt. That's for two hens; double that for four.
Rub em with your choice of stuff, smoke em around 200 for about an hour, then up the temp to 275ish for the final hour. You know, til it hits temp.
Enjoy.

Fri - slept in. Had a nice dinner at Malia's to celebrate father-in-laws 81st birthday. The NY strip is good but not great, should have gotten the filet. Old fashion, a kolsch, and then a glass of wine with the steak and I was set. Back to their house for cake/ice cream. Stayed up late goofing off with the wife (not redhead things).
Sat - Not a lot during the day. Took my mom to Augusta that evening as previously mentioned to see some friends that are moving to Connecticut in a couple weeks. We tried to go to PF Chang's but they were not able to seat us due to limiting their seating capacity, so we walked outside and the 5 year old promptly threw up on their sidewalk. Determined that it was most likely car sickness from the car ride over because she had not eaten a lot that day. Head to Sheehan's Irish Pub for corned beef spring rolls, Green Jacket salad, and fish and chips. Fish and chips were on point. Had a CC Tropicalia and a Guinness. The Guinness was somewhat watery for some reason, not great. Pick up mom and said our goodbyes to our friends. Meet some of wife's family for a couple beers, and head home and stay up late again goofing off with the wife (not redhead things).
Sun - Make a Wal-Mart run with the kid. Take the kid to golf course to practice, meet son. Have easy UDP dinner. Tired so go to bed fairly early (for me). Realize no redhead things this weekend, will have to rectify that today.
Good food, many drinks, no redhead things. 7.8/10

Worked my a$$ off in the yard. We dug up a few bushes that

were not thriving. Not sure if they got TOO big and choked each other out or what, but the front flower beds looked like crap. Removed those 6 bushes, bought more bushes, bought more azaleas, bought some flowers, bought a knockout rose, planted all of that and then got pine needles from the pine tree grove and fixed up the beds. Transplanted some lillies from one bed to the next and some liriope from Mom's house to mine. Drank a good bit of beer and ate some bad food. Opened up the pool but yard work kept us out of it except a couple hours yesterday. Well, by us I mean the kids, I don't swim in that coldass pool.

Friday night we had steaks and bourbon
May 3, 2021, 8:38 AM
|
|
Mostly steaks. Kids missed out on the bourbon.
Sat am we had middle son's soccer game. Then wife and I split up to divide and conquer. Wife to Sam's, me home working, then me off to do some homework. Cut a dead tree that's been bugging me. Grilled pork chops Saturday night. Sat after the soccer game wife dropped off middle son at inlaws so he and cousin could spend the night, because other cousin was having a sleepover. Meanwhile, back home, neighbor's kid came to sleep over so his parents could anniversary.
Sunday watched church then ran the Publix circuit, and got mom's groceries and dealt with her water/mail/trash/mailbox/etc. then our own grocery haul. Wife meanwhile attempted to clean the front porch furniture. She had indicated she wanted to use the pressure washer, because lazy, and wants to paint the chairs anyway. Fine. SO.....while I'm buying $800 worth of groceries for 7 people in two grocery stores 25 miles apart, wife and kids commence to cleaning porch furniture. Wife gets pressure washer out. Cleans chairs, stripping paint fine (she wanted them repainted and they need it anyway). THEN she proceeds to clean the concrete on the porch, THEN the front steps. Well, she tore up the grout between the bricks, stripped the paint at the bottom of the railings, and then let the kids play in the sprinklers while she did all of this. Kids then summarily broke two sprinkler heads. So I have to now fix the brick grout, paint chairs, repaint railings on steps that I paid to paint a year ago, and replace two sprinkler heads, all because I allowed her to "clean the chairs" on the front porch, unsupervised.
And this was all my fault, 100%. I know better, but I just can't do everything.
Started out 8/10, ended up 6/10

Friday: Murder Beach for the last scokker match of the season, picked up take away from my favorite restaurant, Abuelas, and back home.
Saturday: messed around, did nothing of note. Was glorious.
Sunday: went to a college scokker match, cleaned up the car, hit bed early, did watch Rush on Netflix, was good.

Friday, got the dog off to boarding and on the road to Asheville. Get to the hotel and toss stuff in the room and head to Biltmore Estate. Breeze through security because warlord, and I for TOTE1 wedding rehearsal. Ran through ceremony a couple of times and had time to drive all over the estate before rehearsal dinner. Been to Asheville a thousand times but never to Biltmore so we checked it out while we had the chance. Still had time before rehearsal dinner so did some driving around on that side of town. That whole Biltmore Village is kinda cool but there is no parking so we cruised the long way to the near where the rehearsal dinner restaurant was and found a Mexican joint nearby, sat outside and had a coupe of beers. Met everybody at Stone Ridge Tavern and had a blast getting to know both families (although the TOTE clan has been frequent visitors to the tailgate over the years). Ate the trout and it was delicious. Back to the hotel fairly early and crashed.
Saturday, up and dressed and back at the Champagne Cellar at Biltmore by 10:30, checked my notes, then performed what turned out to be a beautiful ceremony. Took pictures, then the entire wedding party did a tour of the winery and a wine tasting at the end where I proceeded to become one of the world's foremost authorities on wine. The Wino In Chief was overly generous on the tasting pours, so most of us got back to the Champagne Cellar for wedding lunch with a nice buzz to coat the stomach for the glorious meal and open bar. Hung out until they tossed us out around 4:00, then back to the hotel to change. Made a run over to the River Arts District and looked around, had a beer at Wedge Brewing and ran into a 'Crazy Pants Guy' that we had seen at Bele Chere for 20 years of going and chatted with him. Not much was open as late as it was, so we headed downtown prowled around until 10ish, then back to the hotel.
Sunday, ate hotel breakfast and took the long way home winding through the backroads past Chimney Rock and Lake Lure, always a great ride. Picked up the pup at boarding around 1:00, back home and ate a quick lunch and got a few chores done, then made grocery run. Practiced bass for about an hour because I hadn't touched in a two days, then Mrs. made a killer chorizo frittata, watched Fear The Walking Dead, and crashed.
An amazing weekend, I could have gone into much greater detail but I'll save that for later BUT...this was the first 19/19 Covids weekend since weekends starting being measured on the Covid Scale.

Saturday headed down to Saluda Shoals and judged some BBQ. Pork was just ok but my table's ribs were amazing. Weather was perfect and that park is very nice. Hung out with some friends I haven't seen in a while. Just was a great day outside.
Sunday woke up with a salt hangover from all the bbq (thank goodness people have quit using pink trisodium phosphate salt in competition - the headaches used to be much worse) and was a real grump. Shook that off after a bunch of water and peeing and spend the day at Momma's for fried chicken Sunday dinner. Two old family friends joined us and it was great to get caught up on everything.

Busy. Friday: Late night at work. Met wife for dinner
May 3, 2021, 9:21 AM

unknowingly had karaoke at Tharealdonjuan's restaurant. Was waaaaayyy too loud.
Saturday: Was planning on replacing lights in the shop, shed, and storage building that morning then cleaning all of that out that afternoon. It took all morning to figure out the WWII veteran with a 6th grade education's wiring. Spent the rest of the afternoon replacing lights with LED shop lights. Got it all done and was dog tired by the end of the day. Laughed at TOTE1. Jerked it to RH Tig's father time beard
Sunday: Rested that morning. Took the boat to the river to make sure everything runs decent. Cleaned up around the house and in the house.

Kind of a bummer

Friday: Put an offer in on a house. Went $17.5 over ask with a Brinks truck full of cash as a due diligence kicker. Pizza and mozzarella sticks for dinner with beer.
Saturday: Was in the bathroom and Red starts screaming that she has to rush the baby to the pediatrician. Rulez Jr. had two hair tourniquets on two separate toes (where a hair gets tied around the toes and cuts off circulation). Doctor was at the hospital doing rounds and nurse couldn't legally apply nair (yes, the hair removal cream) to her toes. So Red went to Walgreens and did it herself in the pediatrician's parking lot incase something went wrong. Toes are all in one piece, just have a nice ring on them, even through this morning. We went back to look at the house we put an offer in at, just to be certain it was the one. Grabbed culvers on the way home. Red made oven baked spicy tacos for dinner.
Sunday: We decided to up our bid to $22.5k over asking. Offer was not accepted. The one that was not only beat our offer, but paid for the house in cash. It's insane that people keep over half a million dollars of cash on hand and then buy a house with it. Heard a leak in the guest bath. Went under the house, and the leak is contained within the pipe, so I think either the tank is filling too much and dripping into the overflow or the toilet is cracked somewhere. Turned the water off and said #### it, my dad is coming into town this week anyway. Went to Home Depot to get lumber to "redeck" our deck. Did a few other tidying up home improvements that need to get taken care of before we list our house. Went on a walk and hit the peloton for a 20 minute climb ride.

before you even move in by buying it over what it's worth in a market that has already inflated the price above what a house is worth.
A lot of people are going to be holding the bag when everything calms down from re-opening.

What happens when a 30-year mortgage at 3% encounters 5-6% inflation? 10% inflation? What happens to the mortgage backed "securities" underwritten on that 30-year 3% mortgage when they become toxic debt because they lose value due to even minor inflation?
Answer......they make up the loss by inflating rates on new loans OVER inflation to offset losses. Same for your credit card. They have a profit margin built into your rate. What happens when inflation forces them to raise your credit card rate?
That being said, I've made $30 today in Ethereum, if I sell it anyway.

for the deck.
Son of had one of those around the head of his pen15 when he was little. I was changing his diaper and the tip was a dark purple. Looked around and found it. Cut it off and it went back to normal.

2 other buyers last week, which is down from 8 two months before, so I think the market is cooling a bit.
I'm on offer 4 or 5 with that happening.

What blows my mind is losing to cash. Your market is a lot hotter than mine, but I didn't know this many folks are walking around with suitcases of money to drop on someones front porch.
The other ###### part about realty is not knowing the exact details of how much you lost by. Of course its public record once the house closes, but its going to bother me if we were just a few grand off. We set our ceiling on this house, but it was much lower than our ceiling for overall home buying, so we had room to go up, but the value wasn't there for us even if it was a move in ready beauty.

the seller if we can beat any higher bids. We've only had one bid that the seller accepted doing that, and the next bid was so much higher that I just gave up and bowed out.
I was talking about the cash offers other other day, and I think there is a lot of investment money and not necessarily private owners doing some of this.
What's strange to me that this happening almost everywhere--and not just in tourist spots. I was talking to guy at work who live in Vancouver--and he said its the same there.

absolutely insane.
Chinese buy places there sight-unseen, just throw money at it.
It's the warmest climate in Canada and a really cool city. My brother lived there for 6-7 years, but he rented a single bedroom apartment and it cost much more than my mortgage payment.

unless its to buy a house, sit on it for a year, then sell it higher than when it was bought. Thats risky as ####, but to each his own with their money.

Re: Good morning everybody. How was your weekend?

Friday did five cases, got home around 6P. At end of first four months of the year I've done 72 robotic cases here, not just the highest at this hospital but I doubt there are many people in this state more productive doing robotic surgery than I've been so far this year. Trying to be a paid shill for Intuitive and work on another source of income. Getting kind of sick of doing this basically for free.
Saturday and Sunday the weather was great. Did outside stuff, took the kids to the pool, went to a vineyard, got out on the kayak in one of the parks around here. Working on finishing up pricing selections and stuff to sign a contract for the new house back in SC.

Saturday, had Korean for lunch. Then swung by Steel Hands to listen to some live music.
Sunday, took the dogs to Jake's to let them run around and play. Kept binging FTWD to try and catch up before the season finale. Cooked grilled skrimps and scallops

Went to Clemson Marina Sunday for lunch, ended up spending way too much money on drinks. Food is much better this year. Trying to enjoy it as much as possible before the crowds come. Ended up with my first sunburn of the year so that was nice. Spent the rest of Sunday afternoon dreading coming back to the ######## that is Greenville.

Horrible. Needed to install a drainage ditch. Note to tnet:

Pay someone to do it. Quotes were in the $3500 range, I said heck with that.
Dug out the ditch, about 50 feet, not a big deal. But then a truck load of resulting dirt had to be shoveled onto a trailer. You dont want to do that. Then the trailer had to be taken across town, and all that dirt had to be shoved off. Then that had to be done a second time. I was pretty well beat. Then the hard part started.
Two tons of fist sized rip-rap (I now know this is called 'surge'), had to be shoveled off the trailer into the ditch then spread uniformly, but here's the thing (besides it being gosh awful heavy): rip-rap is used because its angular flat surfaces cause it to remain locked in place in heavy water flow, which means you can't make the stuff go anywhere when you actually want it to. Getting it spread was a Bee Eye Tee Cee Haych. I'm falling down tired at that point, but then had to do a second two ton load. Between the two loads I flopped down in the yard, looked at the sky and thought, "FBCoachSC® would have a much better way of doing this, and a more interesting and tragic story to tell afterward."
Took half of Friday and all of Saturday, until nearly dark both days, but I managed to get the whole thing done for $1000. One would think that sitting here today, a day beyond the horror of it, I would be glad knowing I am $2500 ahead, but one would be wrong. It's a close call.

Pretty good...

Friday - just hung around the house and had drinks. Fooled around and went to bed.
Saturday - up early, fooled around, yard work time. Took a shower and took wife and daughter to the crawfish festival to see Drivn' and Cryn' they were as always, great. Food was meh but didn't much care since it's the first live music I've seen in a while. Daughter of found a pack of young uns and played chase for a couple of hours. One home and put daughter to bed, had some drinks, watched a movie and then dropped into bed.
Sunday - woke up, fooled around, played with dogs and finished up trimming some shrubs. Took daughter of to playground and had a full on trump nut spend the entire hour telling me about the wuhan flu and stolen elections and how a million of he and his brethren are going to assault washington, "Someday, when they get really fed up"
Meanwhile his fat kids were running rampant and his asian mail order bride was trying to corral them with no help at all.
Then took daughter home for a nap and we headed over to dad's because he made a bouillabaisse and wanted all of us to try it. Was great.
Got home, made one drink and fell asleep in an armchair.

Should have been good, but ended up sucking....
May 3, 2021, 11:45 AM
|

Friday - long day at work, brought home some to-go Thai food, that was good. Messed around with pond trying some things to get rid of green water algae. Watched some NFL draft and to bed at a decent time.
Saturday - up early to run some errands before company golf outing at Arrowhead Pointe in Elberton. Stocked up on beer and water and got to colleagues house in Anderson so some of us could car-pool there. I didn't have to drive for a change, so was ready to toss down beers on the course.
Had some new golf shoes I was wearing for the first time. Got some new-age spikeless Foot Joys which felt fine when I wore them around the house to loosen them up. Hit a bucket of balls and putted around and felt fine. Walked up to the 1st tee and my ankle was killing me. By the time I got the 1st green, my ankle was throbbing and I could hardly walk. The shoes felt like they were cutting across a ligament or something. Drove back to parking lot and put back on normal running shows. Felt some relief and was pretty sure it was the shoes. As I continued to play it got worse and worse to the point it became pretty unbearable. [did chip one in and hit 2 birdie puts for team while hobbling around] Called wife-of at the turn to come pick me up and bring some Tylenol and ice. It's a 50 min drive from Anderson so it took her a while (plus she's slow as sheet). Anyways...got how and was still just as bad an whole foot was swollen. Got so bad that I finally took an oxycodone I had left over from surgery 2 yrs ago. That helped and a sacked out.
Sunday - woke up and foot/ankle was a good bit better. Could walk on it but still had a little pain. tried to stay off it as as much as possible. Wife cooked breakfess...meh...she brought home subway for lunch...meh...had some chips for dinner...blah. Watched Imposters on Netflix with wife all day.
So, what should have been a fun weekend with a complete Saturday pass to drink and play golf turned into pain-fest and sitting on #### on Sunday.

I have a similar pump to this but the box broke and the bio balls all floated out, so I took them out. Right now I have no filtration...just a pump.
The link you provided didn't have a UV inline filter lights. Are you saying you used one like in the link or one like the link but also with a UV light filter?
