the simply the “Bubble Screen” and more importantly WR screens are very effective plays when properly executed.
However … trying to make a living off of any sort of play while ignoring other things is not a good idea.

Did some demand behind the L O S screen with 3 defenders set to coral off any positive yard, but it do add up to a complete forward pass, and that has to count for something even without positive yardage!!!

I would be all too happy if Dabo would put his foot down and demand success from every position, and let each coach know that every player they suggest to Dabo to offer, they better make sure they are players they are absolutely sure they can coach up for Clemson success, or their coaching career at Clemson could be very short lived. If he would do just that and mean every word of it, all those catchy mottos would be wasted words on a sign placed over a door or in a hallway....

is what stands out to me the most. Streeter was awful at it. He had his gameplan and only one or two changes at the half. Elite coaches make in-game per drive adjustments. This is huge!

Amen to your Amen. Venables was always a champ at halftime fixes. I have to say I thin Was does too, I saw our D improve, unlike our O. I'm willing to give the DC some grace. But the coaching of the players is maybe the most important thing we seem to have lacked. And Riley is said to have that? Well hot dog!

I'm willing, and have, given Goodwin the benefit of the doubt. We won a lot of games because of our D. It's got to be hard to fill BV's shoes. If our recruiting was suffering, that would be different. My particular issue is with the secondary. We have had some great players at corner and safety, sent plenty to the NFL, but we give up far too many long plays/ 10 yards off WRs on 3rd and 2

The only way to fill BV'S shoes, is to have him to put his foot in his shoe, but there are a lot of very good DC's out there in the college FB world that would love to come to Clemson and work for Dabo that's not named Brent Venables!!!! BV'S time at Clemson was awesome, but that time has gone, and I really don't see him ever coaching at Clemson ever again, but he left our defense better than he found it....

The Frogs were just in over their heads against Georgia. Max Duggan is gone after this season and he probably saw the writing on the wall. Chad Morris' son is the back up QB for the Frogs and it was a good idea to hit the road.
TCU could have easily lost 3 to 6 more games this year and never belonged in the playoffs. They were very fortunate and got every call by the refs. Dykes isn't even that great of a coach having been fired by Cal.

Actually Chandler Morris (Chad's son) beat out Duggan, was the starter and hurt in the 1st game of 2022. Duggan took over and TCU went on a roll. Sounds like a good OC and QB Coach at work.

Kirby Smart was toying with TCU offense. The positive is that he will be off to the NFL, most likely, the next good opening that becomes available

Coaches draw up plays and try to get mismatches but players make the plays. I know nobody wants to hear this but unless we have some speed coming in, it is dangerous to except huge changes this year. Our offense was limited the last couple of years because we do not have the playmakers we had in the 14-20 seasons. I absolutely believe Riley will put us in better situations but we need to be patient.

Very excited about this announcement. While I hoped Coach Streeter was going to be the guy, the offense has not met expectations for two years and a fresh perspective was needed. This Riley fellow brings excitement to the field.

Many schools don't care about elite football because they push other sports, or just don't push any. If you have been elite, and like the view from the mountaintop, you need elite recruitments/portal arrivals and an elite coaching staff. It certainly sounds like the new OC fits the bill.
We will never know whether Coach Swinney would have made this move at this time without a restless fanbase. Surely it would have come, the only question would be timing. I am guessing he decided things would be no better or not better enough next year without a change. What he did was not painless---dismissing a hardworking senior coach is never easy. He did what he had to do, and the signal it sends to other staff and to Clemson players and recruits is unmistakeable.
Good for him, and good for us.
