BYU has an opening

Dec 26, 2012, 10:36 AM

We should replace SC State with BYU next year. BYU had 2 teams pull out. One was Washington State, and they replaced that game with UVA. One spot is still free. Of course they would have to play 7 road games, but it's still possible...

Why would they have to play 7 road games?***

Clemson won't want to schedule a road game for 2013 and BYU's schedule currently has 5 home games and 6 road games. Maybe we could convince them to do a neutral site game in Atlanta or Charlotte.

Doesn't Clemson and Carolina have an obligation to play at least one in state opponent per season? I may be wrong, but don't think they could drop them.

"Clemson is currently scheduled to play both SC State and The Citadel"

What happened to have us schedule both SC State and The Citadel? Did we lose someone? I just don't get it...esp with our conference being "down" (well weak). Granted we play UGA and SC in OOC games, but sheesh.

When the ACC opted for a 9 game conference schedule, we dropped Kent State. Then when the ACC reverted back to an 8 game conference schedule (which the Clemson administration really pushed for) we were left hanging as Kent State had already filled up their schedule. All we had left for options regarding home games were FCS teams. The Clemson administration acknowledged they were eyeing other mid-major FBS teams to fill the slot (i.e. Conference USA, MAC, Sunbelt teams) but were unable to find someone. Basically their priority was to get a home game for financial reasons. I'm sure Clemson could have found a taker if we were willing to play the game away, but that wasn't going to happen.

That's unfortunate, but a sacrifice that I'm sure the school is willing to make so that they will continue to have an 8 game conference schedule.

I don't think its something they have to do, just something both state schools have made as a policy

Be careful dealing with Mormans. They are a strange lot.

Dec 27, 2012, 2:05 AM

They are not much more than a cult that will probably rip us off regarding the money. When their "missionaries" show up at my door, they are given exactly 10 seconds to leave the property or I promise to call the police. It is as if a university was founded by gypsies, or scientologist and we were going to actually recognize them as legit by playing them in sports. There is a reason they will never get invited to the Pac12 and there is a reason they had to go to Utah.

Yes they were forced to go to Utah because unfortunately back in the 1800's the clueless mind existed and was connected to the mouth just as it is today.
