Will Juwan Howard be disciplined?? If so what?
Feb 21, 2022, 11:09 AM

If Juwan is disciplined what will it be? What should it be? I believe he will get little or no discipline. Should be suspended for at least 2 games and bared from any player or coach contact for 7 days. No phone, no zoom NO CONTACT!!

I say suspend without pay through the end of the season.
Reality, probably a 1 game suspension.

He should be fired, but

we know that won't happen! He has proven once again to be mentally unfit to be the leader of a program of this magnitude and the leader of the young men within it.

Problem is, he doesn't even think he's done anything wrong.

He feels totally justified in slapping/punching another man who harmlessly "touches" him in an effort to get his attention. I'd say that he can't return until he fully understands why what he did was wrong and totally unacceptable, fully owns it, and apologizes.

he didn't hit the guy who 'touched' him.. that was the head coach. he hit an assistant.
and make no mistake, Howard was going to walk on by, but Gard, the Wisc coach, grabbed him and stepped directly into him
wonder what the assistant said that pushed him over the edge?
no matter what he said, no excuse to completely lose composure

don't think UM will have the will to fire him, but they will discipline him - perhaps on top of what the Big Ten does

Michigan should fire him. It’s an opportunity not to pay the buy out. It’s extremely unlikely he could ever recover from this. You can’t fire him with cause later.

That’s a really great point. I’m sure there’s still be a settlement, but nothing close to the buyout.

Thats the leader and ambassadour of your school, program

and for years to come. And he's hitting people like a 5 year old b/c they used words to make him mad...awwww i'm sorry 50 year old man that can't handle himself in a professional setting if someone rubs you the wrong way. Feel free to verbally make your point but to physically hit another coach is just ridiculous and the man needs to be fired for the integrity and reputation of your academic institution. Plus after the game the fact that he doesn't have any embarrassment or feel any guilt for overreacting is even more evidence that you have a grown child coaching your games and representing your school. It shows me it will probably happen again. No one threw a punch/slap in that situation except one man and it was the dumb coach. Juvenile idiot.

But he didn't do it over just words, he said he was touched!

That's right, in Juwan Howard's world, anytime somebody touches you, you have every right to become enraged and start swinging on them. He, and a lot of his supporters honestly believe this. That's why a clear message needs to be sent, that no, Juwan Howard, you cannot punch people who merely touch, or even grab you in certain circumstances. Nobody in a civil society is allowed to behave that way, especially someone who is supposed to be a leader; what a terrible example for young men. If Juwan Howard does not get that message loud and clear, then The University of Michigan and The Big Ten have failed miserably.

heck, in a lot of southern states, if somebody touches you, you can gun 'em down because you were "in fear for your life" while "standing your ground," so let's not act like michigan has some kind of monopoly on snowflakes.

Vlastimil I hope you are never in that situation. Southern states?? It seems the gunning down part mainly is mainly in the Chicago and New York areas. Maybe reading your post wrong but that’s a huge generalization you are making. Again I hope you are never in that situation. I would just plan on being prepared there may not be any 2nd chances.

I think the Wisky coach who called him a jive turkey and did the “suck it gesture” should get a small fine and 1 game suspension.
Howard needs a stiffer penalty, of course. I’d say a fine, anger management in the off-season (if he isn’t fired) and 5 game suspension minimum, without pay, while considering whether to terminate (which I personally would).

Needs to be fired. No place for that in the game… yes it is a game and he is a supposed mentor for young men. I really could care less but you asked my opinion.

Since he slapped a white guy and not the other way around, he will get a slap on the wrist. Maybe a one game suspension and be forced to apologize for his actions but not to the other coach. This is the world we live in now. Woke and racial madness.

oh yes, because if there's one thing that is true in America, it's that black people routinely get away with no punishment for relatively minor offenses against white people, right? //////

I would suspend him for the rest of the regular season. Let him coach the postseason and that will be no prize for Michigan this year.
But if I was AD he would be on double secret probation and if he veers outside the lines ……. he gone!
Prior to yesterday he had not done anything incredibly horrible, just lots of little things, screaming match with Maryland coach last year, technicals in both of the games prior to yesterday.
My greatest concern as a D would be what Howard said in the post game press conference yesterday. Those were comments that should come from an immature player not from a D1 head coach.
Bottom line is 1) he’s just not that professional 2) he does not set good examples for the players.

Well I was wrong. Times continue to change I guess. Some of you said end of the year suspension and personally thought that was too lite but I guess some people don’t look at hitting the opposing coach as any big deal. 5 games?? I really thought he would have been relieved of his duties.
