PLEASE tweet/post on Facebook about #CollegeGameDayToClemson

Nov 15, 2012, 11:34 AM

Please continue to tweet and post on Facebook about bringing ESPN College GameDay to Clemson. If you use Twitter (or, even if you don't currently, create an account!) please Tweet (see links below) @CollegeGameDay, @KirkHerbstreit, @cbfowler, @DesmondHoward and @leefitting (College GameDay producer). If you are on Facebook, please post on the College GameDay wall!

When College GameDay last traveled to Clemson in 2006, the crew called it the largest crowd they had all year! Lets make that happen again!

Seems very possible. I guess the primary competition

Nov 15, 2012, 9:37 PM

would be UF@FSU, Oregon@OSU, and ND@USC.

FSU has already hosted Gameday this year, and UF has hosted Gameday once plus made two other appearances.

Oregon is hosting Gameday Saturday vs Stanford. While the rivalry game next week would be Oregon State, it's possible that they won't want to feature Oregon two weeks in a row.

USC hasn't hosted this year, but they aren't relevant anymore this season and could only play the role of spoiler. Gameday would only go there to feature ND who has both hosted Gameday and made a guest appearance at Oklahoma a few weeks ago.

South Carolina has hosted UGA, and Clemson was a guest at FSU, but has not hosted. Gameday also hasn't been to Clemson since 2006.

Clemson Football, the glory days are here!

Having Gameday at Clemson is a great opportunity to

Nov 15, 2012, 11:46 PM [ in reply to Give it a rest , Clemson does not grovel ]

get national exposure. Regardless of your opinion of ESPN and their SEC bias, this is a great chance to show off how special Clemson is. Don't let your opinion of the mothership get in the way of what's best for our university.

You may be at the game and not give a crap, but for those future recruits out there and members of the media who are involved in bowl selection, polls, etc., the more national exposure we get the better. The level of academics, the quality of our athletics, and the beauty of the campus are enough for Clemson to sell itself. However, we have to get everyone to look at us first, and Gameday is a good opportunity.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

For your FYI, the do not extend bowl bids any more

Nov 15, 2012, 11:57 PM

none that count any way

Clemson is better than a 3 ring circus
If a recruit is not already there in person , does not know the school or is not visiting. Fat chance he is sitting on the couch Sat nite looking at Herbie and saying ooooooohhh i want to go there. sorry if you already made your sign

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm sure you're never going to see my point, but

Nov 16, 2012, 1:39 AM

let me propose a question for you. Do you think that the fact that ESPN promotes the SEC in a completely over the top biased manner increases the exposure for each of the schools in that conference? Like it or not, ESPN has an insane amount of control over the happening in college football. The SEC has become more dominant in recent years in part because of the fact that the saturation and promotion of the conference has made the teams more familiar and more popular. Increased popularity leads to increased revenue, and increased revenue ultimately leads to facility and staff upgrades.

One Gameday visit certainly won't be enough to bring Clemson to the forefront of college football, but it would clearly be a step in the right direction. If you remember back to the 2006 GT game when Gameday came, that visit followed by the decisive Homecoming victory that night put Clemson at the forefront of the college football world. The media—including those outlets outside ESPN—fell in love with the Tigers. Unfortunately that momentum was lost with the drubbing at the hands of Virginia Tech, but at the very least it gave us a chance.

If Gameday comes to the game in two weeks, our game is going to get national coverage with ESPN's premier crew of Herbstreit and Musberger. Most weeks that is the highest rated game of the weekend. With a good performance and the nation watching, including those that vote in the polls, we could move up significantly in the human polls, which given the way the computer polls are treating us is extremely important.

If you can't see the benefit of having ESPN on campus, you're simply letting your negative view of the network get in the way of what's best for the team.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Let me answer...

Nov 16, 2012, 12:29 PM

If Game Day comes to Clemson, you are forgetting that an SEC team is involved and it will turn into an SECfest. coots have been on Game Day several times this year and it will look like Game Day is there for them and the SEC, not Clemson.

words between Dabo and the OBS...IMO an unusual twist, lots of great photos, video, quotes, jokes...rehash of the colorful rivalry...featuring two schools from one of the smaller states with pretty darn good records this year. A marketing and advertising dream that would probably be a huge hit on TV! Of course, I'm prejudiced, but this is a no-brainer....

Re: Seems very possible. I guess the primary competition

Nov 16, 2012, 7:10 AM

I think we have the best match up. However, if Game Day is on the west coast this week, it may be better (economically) for ESPN to keep their equipment on the west coast (USC). Does ESPN have multiple Game Day crews (equipment)?
