We pay our assistants less than the national average.
Out of 350 division 1 teams, we are below the average in what we pay.
Let that sink in.

I think based on his last assignment then he is positioned appropriately as an average coach at a university that has been average or slightly above average in basketball. Of the big three sports, I would say that basketball has the lowest expectations for a reason.
Brownell remained head coach at Wright State through the 2010 season. His teams never finished lower than third in conference play, but he was unable to return the Raiders to postseason play. However, he did lead the team to three straight 20 win seasons.[8]

Yeah, you just happen to have a guy named Brad Stevens take the reigns at Butler during those last three years... including two national championship appearances.
Really, LOOK at what was happening in the Horizon league. Prior to Brad, Wright State NEVER won the Horizon. Had a (what is now) a Summit banner and a DII banner. That is it.

I agree he is a good coach, and he is also a good recruiter. I disagree with many on here about the players Brad brings to Clemson and the guys we have on our roster each season though, and why we need more money or support to get better players than we have right now. This season's squad has some legit dudes who can win basketball games together. This looks like a solid, winning college team. Many of our rosters under Brownell have had similar promise, and some have delivered okay.
