Several people have asked on different threads, I figured I'd put all I know here.

This morning Pete Nakos (On3) made a post. It is behind a paywall, so unless you are a subscriber to On3 you can't read it. (I'll post a link at the bottom of the page.) The gist of it is he was told this morning that "talks had heated up" and he should "be on the alert" in case an announcement was made. He said he would update if he heard anything new. No update so far.

So as of 2:40 today, Mike is still the coach.

One devoted Nole fan posted this, "The announcement of Willie Taggart's firing was at 3:30 PM. So, I'll wait until then. If there is no announcement, I'll kick the dog, scream at my wife and drink a beer."

Sanders attracts lightning. He has also completely failed at CU. Dont think he would be a good candidate. Jimbo Fisher might return. He would would do in the present portal situation with the money FSU is spending.

Jimbo Fisher? Are you high? Y’all potato heads are even dumber than I thought…

FSU would obviously go get the South Florida coach.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Some fans want Deion. More fans want Jimbo.

I think both have zero chance of being hired. If Deion is hired I'll turn in my Nole card and change my username here on Tnet.

If Jimbo is hired, I'll do the same thing.

I would prefer Wes Goodwin or Dave Doerun (and I don't want either) over Jimbo or Deion. Heck, I'd prefer Shane over Jimbo or Deion.

tnet-military.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Fans are hoping/thinking it will be James Franklin.

I think we are fishing in a different pond. My guess is it will be a P2 coordinator or a G5 HC. (The usual list of suspects.)

I know nothing. I don't know what the financial situaion will be, how much they will pay a HC, etc.

But, thinking way outside the box, I'm wondering if Jake Dickert or Jeff Lebby would be interested. Those would be two guys I would certainly inquire about.

Whether Norvell stays or goes is an FSU thing but it really don't understand this rash of nud seadon terminations. How can it benefit the program to be coachless while the season is underway?

Dabo is the King of the Portal. He donates many of his players to it every year, and requires very little in return. All of the other head coaches are very grateful for his service.

Time to take out the trash mods. Budde is intellectually unsound and very immature and stupid on top of that. That qualifies him to be a coot fan.

It's not sustainable to keep firing coaches. In this new age of NIL/Portal the parody is here to stay and expect more "down years" until some controls are put in place so HC's can have some stability in their rosters.

It's not sustainable to fire coaches every few years because Indiana is having a big run. Let's see where they are in a year of two.

At this point in the season, I’d think that FSU’s athletic organization would prefer to see if Norvell can pull wins against VA Tech (likely), NC State (will be tough), and Gators (who the heck knows?).

Norvell gets a Hat Trick, I could see him staying through the bowl game.

This is where FSU would be rolling the dice.

If FSU wins the bowl against a semi-respected ‘name’ opponent (which, like LSU and Clemson, had a disappointing season), then the decision to keep Norvell will be easy.

On the other hand, if FSU gets stomped in the Disappointment Bowl, then it’s probably too late to fire Norvell. In which case Chief Osceola will plant his spear in the AD’s sky box.

I can understand why the FSU fans want Norvell gone. Not sure what his real buyout is (and that of the staff that gets fired with him) but Norvell made a decision to largely live and die by the portal every year and thus far it has not worked out well except for 2023. I guess FSU Admin will have to do the math to see if the buyout is even "doable" in order to try and turn the FSU program around.

If they fire Norvell at the end of the season, I wonder if there is some chance they promote Malzahn. Quite frankly I wouldn't mind if Norvell and staff are fired at the end of the season while at the same time Clemson parts ways with Riley and brings Malzahn to Tigertown to revamp our offense....
