Going to CO Springs first two weeks of August.
How y'all leave your wife and kids behind that long? Hopefully this isn't a common occurrence.

For day 1-2 it's AWESOME. Then around day 3 you start to miss the kids.

China?
Even before this whole bat-flu thing, I've made it my personal goal to never go to China. Certain ones at work been trying to get me to go butt with my stomach and their ###### shitters, I'd rather stay here in the US.

I wouldn't go to the bathroom the entire trip. It's the only country that still has the plague! I mean, the plague! Please!

At least you'll be able to call easily

I did 3 weeks in Seoul, SK. The 13 hour time difference made calling a little wonky.
More recently (up until the pandemic) I had been traveling to California every other week. That 3 hour difference was just enough to make a miss on the early morning phone call (kids were off to school before I was up) and made the evening a real interrupter of homework and bedtime prep. We made it work, tho.

I used to do weeks on end in Hawaii and you know what was always the toughest part, not even the flight or being gone....when you get home.
You are used to doing your own thing all the time. Eat what you want, drink what you want, sleep as long as you can, shower when you want, exercise, walk around, meet people. Everything is really on your time. You get back home and get back on wife and kid time and its a shocker to the system.

extensive work travel allows both of us to be able to put up with each other’s ######## while we are around each other. this work from home nonsense has sucked.

Six, seven, eight month deployments. Back when my Dad was in the Navy a year/year and a half deployments were the norm.
