to show up on campus, instead of taking MLB money right now. Being as he is a starting pitcher, I doubt if we have that much money.

This is precisely the dilemma a college baseball coach faces. This young man sounds like a great athlete and a great person. He fits the needs of our team so well. But it is likely that he may sign with a professional team instead of coming to Clemson. So if our scholarships are limited, do we tie up a scholarship, knowing there is a high likelihood of him not coming? He should be offered (and I hope he does come to Clemson), but he will not know if he is coming until late in the recruiting process, so if he does not come, we miss out on a good pitcher hoping for a great one. Lee lost several players like this young man to professional baseball. If I was a top-level coach, I would not come to Clemson until they rectified this problem.

This kid only gave up 35 outs to his team defense--either on the basepaths or to batted balls--out of 155 total outs. That's amazing.
