Hardest College to get into in Every State

Oct 1, 2015, 11:33 PM

I don't believe this will come as any surprise, except to maybe the "coot-lurkers" who still think the correctional institute in Columbia is elite...

http://www.ajc.com/news/news/whats-hardest-school-get-georgia/nnrrx/

District of Columbia (D.C.): Georgetown University
Florida: University of Miami
Georgia: Emory University
Hawaii: Brigham Young University at Hawaii
Idaho: Northwest Nazarene University
Illinois: University of Chicago
Indiana: University of Notre Dame
Iowa: Grinnell College
Kansas: Newman University
Kentucky: Berea College
Louisiana: Tulane University
Maine: Bowdoin College
Maryland: Johns Hopkins University
Massachusetts: Harvard University
Michigan: University of Michigan at Ann Arbor
Minnesota: Carleton College
Mississippi: Millsaps College
Missouri: Washington University in St. Louis
Montana: Carroll College

North Carolina: Duke University
North Dakota: Minot State University
Ohio: Oberlin College

That's some great company we're in.

U. Of Arkansas hardest to get in to in Arkansas?

Oct 2, 2015, 6:14 AM

I was expecting a DeVry or U. Of Phoenix to lead in that state.

i would have thought Davidson > Duke

Oct 2, 2015, 8:34 AM

for NC..

but several sources suggest that Duke gets a lot more applications.. so it appears more selective

and the freshman profiles suggest very slightly higher test scores for Duke freshmen, but Duke admits athletes with lower scores than Davidson does

i know at least two kids in the last few years who didn't get in Davidson, but got in Duke

Re: which parts of

Oct 2, 2015, 8:56 AM

I don't know. It's just that I have had a couple relatives go to Davidson. That said, one of them is a die hard Duke hoops fan. He was denied by Duke. He ended up transferring to Duke eventually.

personal perception

Oct 2, 2015, 9:13 AM

certainly matters.

i would have thought Davidson, just from my own knowledge. but objective data shows that Duke is a little bit harder to get in

one of the kids i mentioned above was my niece... i was shocked she didn't get in Davidson but got accepted by Duke..

but she ended up going to Wake as if offered a much better financial aid package (and she loved it and is now working on her masters in Chapel Hill)

I am sure there are so many factors. Both are great schools.

Oct 2, 2015, 9:16 AM

UVA is the state school allowing in more kids per year??? Two of my cousins got into UVA and the way they tout that school up there it might as well be Harvard.

They call the campus the "grounds"

Talk about pretentious

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

uva is an excellent school, make no mistake about it.***
