I know that DJ is gone and that it really doesn't matter, but I think Big Dave is full of you know what!
He said when he was "setting the record straight" that there's not as much pressure at O state and that the coaching staff there will allow DJ to make mistakes.
*Face Palm*
I loved DJ's tenacity and leadership while he was the starter. The team obviously rallied behind him and wanted success from him.
However, I don't think I've ever seen a power 5 QB make as many mistakes as he's made in games, and still keep their starting job.
Honestly DJU and Big Dave lost a lot of credibility to me over these comments. Maybe he should've taken his mom's advise, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"

Dabo and Streeter went to the mat for DJ...

in spite of A LOT of harsh criticism for doing so, and there is absolutely no denying that. I doubt many other coaches would have been nearly as patient.
There is no question, the offense struggled over the last two seasons, and there were a lot of reasons for that which have been discussed ad nauseam. DJ most certainly bears some of the responsibility for that, something that appears lost on both DJ and Big Dave.

Correct. I was starting to wonder if there was something contractual wise with NIL that was forcing the coaching staffs hand. I know people on here act like because we post on a message board that we do not qualify in stating the obvious. He should have been out after the ND game.

The school and coaches have nothing to do with NIL or their contracts.

Dabo and Streeter had the patience of Job with DJ. There was no reason for him or his dad to even comment on Clemson after he left. You know what, if it was really that bad, DJ could have been in the portal sooner. He stayed.

Has remained the problem. The very definition of vicarious. He would do DJ wonders by simply stepping away from his son's life.

I don't know if stepping away helps anything, but at the very least, stop inserting himself into every situation and conflict. You can tell he cares about the spotlight and I agree that he is part of the problem. I'm kinda glad that he is not associated with Clemson anymore. Kinda gave me Lavar Ball vibes.

I was always hoping DJ would have told him thanks but no thanks, but being your dad I guess that would be easier said than done.

The point is, most of his criticism was levelled at Streeter. Whether you choose to accept it or not is your problem.

You clearly know nothing about the situation. But please, do continue. There's a reason why Dabo fired Streeter. "nuff said.

So answer me this Mr. Inside the football offices. Why was it a relief that Big Dave wasn't around the football facilities like other parents? Why did Big Dave accompany Matayo, on every visit but his official to Clemson?
Clearly you know nothing about the situation. But please do continue with your hatred for Streeter, it's causing you to act like Big Dave is your father. "nuff said

Fact is Big Dave stopped coming around Clemson. Fact is Big Dave accompanied Matayo on all his visits except for Clemson (the mom accompanied on that one).

Coming from a family oriented program like Dabo has built, where family is not only encouraged but always welcome, it's hard for me to wrap my head around Dabo telling a parent of the starting QB to stay away. Unless of course, he was a major distraction to the team.

Dave was a cancer and I mean a lot worse than criticism towards any coach.
It’s all good though everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Yea have had heard different from what I consider to be a very reliable source and him covering his ### on Twitter does not change my opinion.
Reality is he was told to quit coming around and poof he went missing, but he should be thanking Clemson, Dabo and Streeter for keeping him as the starter.
Let’s just say the NCAA knows about Big Dave.

just the opposite of Big Dave. When his son Chris was at Virginia, Howie made extra effort to stay out of the limelight. His son thrived ..... there and in the pros.

Big Dave is not objective...

and is just defending his son which is fine, but at the end of the day, I think it's obvious that he has thoroughly enjoyed his time in the spotlight while living vicariously through his two boys.
