Big brownell fan

Think he's a great teacher that unfortunately probably won't be around Clemson to much longer. However, leading up to the tournament selection, reading his quotes basically saying they are not going to make the NCAA and settling with the NIT was weird.

It just seems the coach should be pushing the media to talk about his teams chances for the NCAA tourney and not resign to the fact of an NIT bid.

An NCAA tourney bid would have been quite a stretch and I

don't think PR is necessarily his strong suit.

And think he will be at CU a long time. DRad is the type of AD that will make sure of it...

Coach Brownell's not going anywhere.

He's getting ready to enjoy the fruits of his labor. We'll have an upperclassmen dominated team for the first time in years and for the foreseeable future.

very close second, then Ellis (the only coach to win ACC Regular Season). Brownell has a bright future if we can keep him in Tigertown!

If you check my posts, I post mainly about basketball, because I feel I am more knowledgeable on that subject. Without a doubt, Brownell is the best Clemson coach going back to at least Bobby Roberts in late 60's/early 70's, and that is the extent of my personal observation. Clemson has been fundamentally sounder under Brownell than under any other coach, and there is not really even a close second. There's no way we should be able to play Duke even, based on their having 5 future NBA players, and probably one or two lottery picks, and our having one future NBA player. If the talent level gets upgraded ever so slightly, we'll be a NCAA tournament team for years to come. I'm looking forward to it!

Not in agreement

respectfully. It's not on coaches to be demagogues and go on rants about their team's qualifications. That puts us in the category of a Seth Greenburg. The selection people clearly do not take into account coach's campaigns for their teams. They look at many other factors, strength of schedule, league strength, etc.

The coach has responsbility to be level-headed and not set his players or the fan base up for false expectations, when he knows that the qualifications aren't there. This was certainly the case with us. We just didn't pass the tests needed to get into the tourney. Why set people and your team up for a big letdown?
