Supposedly, it was a zone blitz call where the linemen drop off and other blitz the qb. If true, I guess someone missed the call.

They dropped back in anticipation of a screen pass . When that didn't happen they weren't sure what to do

I was royally pissed. Kept on thinking what would happen if Clemson lost the game. Dabo and Brent would be reminded of that play for the rest of their lives. Really dumb. The Tigers were doing just fine with consistent pressure on Evans. Then, when the Turkeys were about to turn it over to Clemson (with the Tigers leading 35-14), the coach(es) decide to take the pressure off???????? Unbelievable. It's like a baseball manager asking his fielders to try and play without gloves! A hockey coach telling his players to shed the sticks! You've got to be kidding. I totally agree with you. Never seen anything like it in my life. It let the Turkeys right back in the game. I hope I never see it again. Period.

I still think it was a terrible call up 35-14. Just rush our DL and send an extra man. If he completes a 3rd and 9 with pressure then just tip your cap.

If you give enough time to any QB, someone can get open.
Game was under control. They were stopped and completely out of sorts on offense.
3rd and nine. Either blitz or just rush 4. BUT NO RUSH?
DUMB, DUMB, DUMB.
Do you think the coaches get bored and just want to see what happens.
There seem to be several cases over last few years where the coaches or a player just decide its time to improvise or experiment when all is fine and we just need to keep doing what we are doing.
DUMB.
There was NO REASON to try something cute there.
And obviously doing something that the team has not practiced is double DUMB.
Love our team, love our coaches, but gosh- stop the gimmicks like that.

coverage (should've since we had 11 in coverage). QB threw it short and we just couldn't quite get there.

And no one has yet mentioned the ball was eventually thrown to a very tall receiver "covered" by the very short defender.

Guess it's like trying caster oil for one time just to see how bad it tastes. Glad we got that "play" out of our system and never to be seen in the playoffs (or EVER again).
