There are many reasons we are struggling this year, but the 2019 recruiting class may be the biggest factor. Take a look.

Not sure how that one was so underwhelming, especially after a NC.
The past two classes were great though. We should see some pay off next year.

We just need to sign more and be in position to fill holes more quickly. IMO, we have not projected well the impacts of the portal and the statistical probability of having this many injuries and this many misses. 85 is already a low number--when approx. 10% is filled with walk-ons...that's too high IMO for a program trying to win NCs. We should have a robust walk-on program and have some walk-ons on scholly, just not than many....
2019 had alot of "misses"--injuries, guys being over-recruited, transfer, etc..... Gotta have insurance for that. IF you aren't going to use the portal, signing more HS kids is the only way

2nd year after a NC is when teams generally see the recruiting benefit

I've not noticed this trend at all. More so, I'd say just high performing teams reap more reward the year directly after.
Look at some of the highest recruited ranking for some with no natty, but killed in recruiting:
- Georgia, clearly. Wins at recruiting perpetually..... and recruits best after good years
- FSU, Miami, Gators. Just because of location really, but same. Recruit better after good seasons
- Ohio State went 2015, and has killed it since
- Blue Bloods like Texas and Oklahoma also do well annually, but best when they're playing well, or for Texas change coaches

There's also some on there that should be absolutely studs by now and they're not producing and a couple transferred because they got beat out or weren't getting PT. JC and Jones should have been getting more snaps... Busts? Development issues? Eval issue? Idk, b4 the tds reign down, I'm asking because idk.
Is odd how many high 4* that we get that are passed over by 3's and even 2 star talent.

I think because a lot of males are still growing at 17 and others are fully developed.

Ladson has been a disappointment and seems to have a problem with injuries but Ngata? no way I would call him a disappointment. Maybe disappointed that he got covid and couldn't play last week but that'd be about it

It's year 3 for Ngata and he has a total of 42 catches for 675 yards and 4 TDs
By year 3...
Nuk: 124 catches, for 1615 yards and 9 TDs
Sammy: 139 catches, for 1927 yards and 15 TDs
Mike: 77 catches, for 1346 yards and 9 TDs
Higgins: 76 catches, for 1281 yards and 14 TDs
Ross: 112 catches, for 1865 yards and 17 TDs
Ngata was just as highly recruited as all of them and Dabo said he was the most talented WR we've had. The numbers indicate a disappointment. He was supposed to be the next great member of WRU.
