man walks into a store. Buys a scratch-off lottery ticket.

He comes back in and cashes a $500 winner. Man is handed his money. Store clerk who sold the ticket asks "where is my part?". Man says, "why should you get something?" Clerk replies, "I sold you the ticket" with an attitude. Man thinks for a second and says, "well ma'am, you didn't help pay for the ticket, you didn't tell me which one to buy, so the way I see it, it's all my money" and politely walks way only to have the clerk yell, "go "*%#$" yourself".
Why does the store clerk feel entitled to $25-$50 when the man took all the risk?

Never heard of that level of entitlement with a store clerk, but I will say when someone wins a big prize, the lotto org. typically gifts $ to the store. I would give some to the clerk with a big prize. Why not?
500 is not that much in lottery terms so I’m not a fan of your hypothetical there. People are definitely entitled in many ways, including those that feel entitled to earn off the backs of others’ labor and not pay their fair share of taxes to support society.

That’s nuts man. I’ve won 500 a couple times, I would laugh at them. “I’m broke, you’re gettin’ squat.”

Wants the store to keep selling those gambling tickets so they can get more tax money. By the way, in my past life, I was a social worker and the poorest among us brought a large amount of tickets even though they could not afford putting them in an even worse situation. The politicians were advised of this but it fell on deaf ears and passed the lottery program. All they saw was the increase in tax revenue. Terms limits are needed so badly to stop the dishonest but it won't happen. Off my soap box now.

I mean it is generally considered polite to tip the cashier if you get a big winner but she's not entitled to it either lol
