Totally with Coach Mayo on this one. Scholly players don't get to tell the HC how he is going to manage his roster
The kid was trying to redshirt which would mean he could still practice, use the facilities, nutritionist, weight room etc.
What it sounds like Coach Mayo said was “No son, not how that works you get none of the perks of being on our team unless you are on the team. Goodbye”
I am actually with Coach Mayo on this. You don’t get to halfway quit on the team. You either quit fully or you stick it out.

Yeah this sounds like Beamers right to me. This guy was playing and a key part of their defensive rotation. He was basically saying he wanted to use their facilities for the rest of the season so he could portal elsewhere next year. Beamer went ahead and liberated him from whatever horrible situation caused the request in the frst place.

Well... maybe... but Beamer is the one who cant hang on to his players... they are telling him whats what... sounds like the tails are wagging the dog...
In short. It's his bad culture thats making his program 3rd rate. This is just a symptom
