Basketball Coaches Records & Winning Percentages

I am 50 year basketball season ticket holder. Go all the way back to Bobby Roberts. I'm not quite sure about the best decision regarding Brownell, but I looked up the records of all Clemson coaches. Not only does Brownell have the most wins (longest tenure as well), but he also has the highest winning percentage of any Clemson basketball coach. Purnell comes in at #2 on winning percentage. I don't thing Brownell has scheduled any more cupcakes in December than any of the other coaches. Brownell's conference winning percentage is also the best.
Check it out on this Wikipedia link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Clemson_Tigers_head_basketball_coaches

No tourney, no Brad.
As of today, there's still a chance. IMO, we will need to beat UVA AND NC State if we hope to get in.
Let's go Tigers!

Add that the ACC was the top basketball conference in the country through Foster, Ellis, Barnes and Purnell years.

Considering the competition those coaches faced...

in conference, their records absolutely indicate that they were better. I'm convinced that Ellis' 89-90 squad could have won the national championship; just had some very bad luck against UCONN with less than as second left.

A couple of things here. I can't get over how people point out how Brownell has the best conference record of any coach in our history while acting as if the ACC is anywhere near as close to as good of a basketball conference as it used to be. The fact that we could finish the regular season in the top 4 of the ACC standings and still miss the NCAA tournament says all you need to know about the current level of play in the ACC.
Next, I can get looking at our basketball history when looking at being a little more patient with a coach here. However, we're not talking about a coach in his 3rd or 4th year here. At some point, just being better than past coaches isn't enough. I remember that being the mindset with a lot of Tommy Bowden supporters for the longest time. A lot of them said we shouldn't fire him because he was better than Tommy West and he was doing as well as a coach could be expected to do here.
At some point you need to take a chance on getting better. Maybe the next coach would be worse than what we have, but that wouldn't suddenly mean that Brownell is the best we can do.

I can't get over how people point out how Brownell has the best conference record of any coach in our history without noting that it's STILL A LOSING RECORD. So CBB is the tallest midget among Clemson coaches, recordwise? And that's what counts as a good thing now? That's all we want out of life?
