Bashing topics

Trying to understand why folks take the time to go in on a topic to trash other responses. There are tons of threads and surely something that interest you. If someone doesn’t agree it’s automatic name calling or get off the board like they own the site. People see things differently and may do homework that makes them feel a certain way. To make the board more enjoyable just skip a topic if it’s not interesting it’s fairly easy and even if something is on the wrong board it does not affect new topics being generated so who cares. I know there are some older guys in here but thinking there are a bunch of kids as well. Let’s have some good conversation on Clemson athletics that’s why I hope most of us are here for, and again I use the scrolling feature to bypass what does not interest me. Seems to work great.

But some of us on tnet are here because we strongly support everything Clemson related. Negative comments about coaches, players, fans etc. are just not acceptable to those who truly support the university and those who are responsible for keeping Clemson great. MANY who post here are trying to make others believe they have the skills and knowledge to run the athletic department.
SUPPORT is the key word here. Do you know what that means.??????

I feel I’m very supportive on most everything minus bball right now, but I don’t feel the need to crucify the guy with a different opinion. Kind of takes the fun out of good conversation when you have a hater that has no valuable input but to state you are not a fan or you are a moron for your thoughts.

That type of mentality is what would have put Tommy Bowden in the Ring of Honor. You can't possibly think that every decision the Clemson BOT, Admin, AD, and staff make are good, nor that players (especially those that take endorsement money) are beyond criticism.
Plus, it's not like those guys come on here and are like, "Well Bill from Walhalla thinks we should have called that timeout 20 seconds earlier, and now I'm going to go cry in the tub for the next four hours."
We're fans on a message board. We're not cult members trying to level up to CLEAR.

Oh give me a break? You lost me or maybe I lost you. This is not complex. I’m talking about if you are a Brownell pumper and I want him fired kind of stuff. I mean it gets kind of nasty on occasion when someone differs on their opinion. No big deal just notice topics seem to get way off track when this crap starts up. Like a pissing contest and at the end of the day I’m not changing your opinion and you are not changing mine.

I don’t know you or any of your comments so this is not directed at anything you’ve personally said. But, coming onto a message board to complain about a coach or player isn’t holding anyone accountable. Bashing a coach on Tnet isn’t protecting the integrity of Clemson’s athletic excellence. The athletic department, coaches, administration, or BOT don’t give a crap what we say here; it’s not gonna impact any decisions within the university. So, if someone thinks they’re doing the school a solid by keeping it real they’re not; most often it’s just self-indulgent venting. For the most part what we say here is 100% irrelevant the only exception is if maybe a recruit or his/her parents were to come here to check things out. IF that actually happens then beeching about a coach may actually do more damage than good.
BTW I don’t give a crap where any Clemson fan went to college or even if they went at all. We need as much support as we can to keep up in today’s college sports and everyone’s money spends the same.

in a sport. They are not mutually exclusive. I agree not dogging on players as they are students, but coaches and admin are hired hands and fair game. Now, if an outsider came at one of our guys, we'd all have their back - that's the way it is. But to say someone isn't supporting Clemson because they want to see a program DO BETTER, well that's hogwash. Coaches come and go - Clemson stays put.
Who was the last Clemson head coach, in any sport, to actually retire (or die on the job it seems)? Was it Ibrahim in soccer? Maybe Coach Howard before that? This idea that coaches are untouchable from fans and supporters' criticisms, and that that alone would be a sign of not supporting 'all things Clemson' just doesn't hold water.

All good stuff. I’m for people telling it like it is when it comes to a coach my point is why call someone a dxck because he likes the coach. That was my only point. Yea I’m definitely on the Brownell needs to go bus but if you like him more power to you but keep it real.
