Cal Raleigh will play his college baseball somewhere, it just won't be Clemson.

The Smoky Mountain senior confirmed Tuesday that he has asked for a release from the scholarship he signed with the Tigers in November.

Clemson fired longtime coach Jack Leggett last week after 22 seasons, 955 wins and six College World Series appearances.

Leggett was not only a family friend, but a former Western Carolina University coach like Raleigh's father, Todd.

"We've asked for a release, we're just waiting to hear back on that," Raleigh said.
