So the staff goes with experience and trust in DJ, and our QB play is only slightly better next year.

but expecting him to be ready to step in immediately or even after a few games is asking a lot.
I think he will play early and often, but I don't anticipate a QB controversy next year.

Yep. A freshman has never started at QB in a P5 conference. Oh, wait, they have.
If the best Freshman QB in America can't start in the worst P5 conference in America, then we need to replace the FB program with checkers. If I was the coach, and I will never be, and both were equal, I'd go with DJ. If Cade was even a tiny bit better I would go with Cade because he will be my QB for 3 yrs., and DJ will only be around for 1 more yr. No way, I am sitting the best HS QB in America on the bench.

I agree Judge. For whatever reason., Dabo is convinced DJ is the answer . I don’t see how one player could impress him that much. I have been fortunate enough to attend several practice sessions recently and I don’t see it. But I’m no coach and never will be and Dabo is the best so I support him fully.

As Dabo has said, and shown, many times he finds answers each season and the following season he opens things up in the spring and fall and finds the best 22 answers again.
I'm not sure what Dabo has done previously to make people think anything different of him.
I think he played the Watson and Lawrence situations beautifully.
He treated them both like young relief pitchers in baseball. Let them be "the OTHER guy" with a plan to insert them as much as possible so they can make a huge impact on the game without having to bare the pressure of being "THE guy" before they were ready.

DJ will underperform in our offense as he has no mobility unless he had a broke leg last year. I look for DJ to start as Dabo will want Cade to win the job on the field out in the open so everyone can see. Without a Mobil QB almost no one can have an effective offense anymore especially when you play a good defense. Dabo will not put himself thru hell again if he has an alternative.

You have to remember that Dabo has his hands tied to a degree. If he pulls D.J. or starts Cade, how long do you think it will take D.J. to hit the Portal? Limits coaches even Saban!
