We lost another football player to transfer.

When will all of you who ragged on Brownell about players transferring stop being hypocrites?
I haven’t seen any criticism of Dabo for not being in tune with the pulse of his team, etc.

He’s the biggest troll on TNet. He cares nothing for Clemson and only purports to support one man at Clemson.
Most poisonous contributor to this forum. I largely ignore. His posts are worthless.

Even EYE know the answer to that one. When Brownell wins two championships and makes the final four 5 years straight.

Wow, what an a33... Brownell actually loses transfers who would have be starters this season like O-Max. These football players were not getting PT...

Brad losing OMax was a less significant loss than Dabo losing Dixon.

Dixon would be behind all three of Pace, Mafah and Shipley. Just like Dukes was. Just like Lyn J was before he left

If you have not seen the transfer portal

as an insanely, obsessive topic the last few weeks, you are blind, have dementia or simply pushing your never ending agenda.
I'm glad Brad uses the portal, and just like with Brad, the number of guys Dabo has had transfer out who have had any real impact elsewhere is negligible. You're no better than those who criticize Brad

Oh, I’ve seen the posts here about the portal.

I’ve seen the calls for Dabo to use it.
But I haven’t seen any criticism of Dabo losing players because he didn’t manage the roster properly.
I don’t think Dabo should get criticized for players transferring. It’s the nature of college athletics today, and there is little that coaches can do about it.
But when Brownell has lost a transfer? Criticism abounds, ranging from his inability to manage a roster to being clueless as to the pulse of his players. Most of these posts used Dabo as an example of a coach who knows how to keep players from transferring.
Well, now that Dabo is also losing players, these same sentiments aren’t being expressed. I don’t expect most Clemson fans to be objective when it comes to football, but I’m certainly going to call out hypocrisy when I see it.

So was Dabo supposed to play Dixon, Charleston and Dukes in front of better players to keep them from transferring. If that is your idea of roster management, then you might want to consider avoiding the topic, not starting a post on it.

That Mikey didn’t transfer after the spring. He was absolutely buried on the depth chart with younger, more talented players ahead of him. If he has any aspirations to actually play meaningful snaps in his career it makes no sense for him to stay. Same for Charleston who had been beaten out by another underclassman.
There’s a lot not going right for this team this year but these two transfers are not the reason to question the direction of the program.

An epic failure on the offensive side of the ball this year, due to an apparent lack of knowledge as to how to fix it, is a much larger concern.
The point is this: transfers are now a significant part of college football, just as they have been in college basketball for a longer period of time. Some of us tried to warn about this, but we were told that it wouldn’t happen to Dabo.
Losing players to transfer shouldn’t be used as ammunition to criticize coaches, but it has been used against Brownell every time we lost a basketball transfer no matter how insignificant. Given that, where are the same criticisms of Dabo for not understanding his team’s chemistry or knowing what his players were thinking?

Not sure why the knee jerk reaction is to default to our football success.
Oct 20, 2021, 1:18 AM
|
|
That has absolutely nothing to do with the point of my post.
According to the logic I’ve seen posted here when we lose a basketball player to transfer, it’s due to the following:
-Our coaches didn’t evaluate the player properly when recruiting him. -Our coaches didn’t develop the player properly. -Our coaches weren’t in tune with team chemistry or else they could’ve prevented losing the player to transfer.
Literally every transfer in basketball has been used as a way to criticize our basketball coaches, as if they are idiots.
If losing a player to transfer is a recruiting failure, a development failure, and/or a relationship failure when it comes to basketball, shouldn’t the same be true for football?
Logic is logic, right?

When you lose transfers who are talented - but buried in the depth chart - it is understandable. When you recruit mid level talent and your talent is not developed and leaves - it is another thing all together.
Your posts have a common theme. Envy.

Math, JK. Math. There are 85 scholarship football players and over 100 total on the team. A transfer is nowhere near as impactful, or surprising, as 1 of 15 basketball players.
You realize there are about 5-6 guys getting reps before Dukes right? Why would he stay?
