Have left the program. Indeed, Dabo's philosophy will have to change. Either hit the portal or recruit more guys out of high school. It's becoming very obvious.

Are we allowed to recruit players to fill those spots? Or do we have to recruit players in the portal?
What positions would you recruit. I would go after a QB, a DB, a RB, a Wr, and a couple of OLs.

It’s not just Dabo.
This is the largest group of people to hit the portal this fast in the existence of the portal.
Hell half the ACC has a QB in the portal.
Not that Dabo doesn’t need to make some changes on his portal position, but guys leaving ain’t a Dabo thing. It’s a CFB in 2022 thing. We are on pace to have 2 to 3 THOUSAND guys in the portal. It’s insanity.

I think he will.
Players haven't been leaving at such a rate we needed to worry about it. But, if this continues, of course he will have to adapt.
I am far more worried; we will bring on a kid who only had FCS offers: We build them up and "then they transfer"! Which would hurt far more in my opinion because of all the time/effort put into the development of that player"!

This couldn’t be a better situation for us as the ones that left are the ones that aren’t playing or the least talented at their positions.
This puts us in a position to replace them with a better player!

We have 23 guys in our 2023 recruiting class, and only 13 scholarship seniors currently on the roster.
If we didn't have another ~10 guys leaving, we wouldn't have room for all of the new recruits so it seems to me that we were expecting most of these guys to leave.

The transfer portal is nothing other than an excuse for these kids to try and barter there way into better playing time. I dont like it but it does solve the issue of geting people that dont want to step up or that cant step up out of your system faster. I am not sure if the college gets that partial scholorship back to get extra players or not. Can someone interject on that?

I'm kind of torn on the portal but I totally agree we need to be bringing 25+ players every season. If we are going to lose 10 a year to the portal we need to stop recruiting as though we are unaware of that reality. I'd rather take a few more three stars that are truly happy to be here and will stick with us through their career than be forced to play walk one because we have no scholarship players left at the end of the season.
