A significant number of you owe me an apology

Mar 25, 2014, 8:37 AM

I made it abundantly clear that you were royally screwing up as I watched you leave Death Valley at half time during the FSU debacle. The live feeds from the blimp made us a laughing stock across the nation. The fans early departure was more noticeable than the lop-sided score to a nation wondering what was so special about Clemson (NOTHING THAT PARTICULAR DAY PRIMARILY BECAUSE OF YOU). But every one of you who left early told me it was your endowed right to do whatever you ###### well please whenever you wanted to do it. That you were not being properly entertained, boo hoo, boo hoo. You handed over our house to the FSU fans and their loud-mouthed QB, Jameis Winston who is still rubbing it in our faces. Next time, defend our honor and stay until the end of the game. Please do your part to shut this ####### up.

Note: Responses will separate two types of people:
1. A focus on Clemson.
2. A focus on themselves.

Because it was the fans' reactions, not the outcome on the field, that was the motivation behind his tweets.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

um ok?

Mar 25, 2014, 8:58 AM

Why did u wait 5 months to ask for an apology? I don't blame the fans who left. If I was there I would of probably left at halftime too. U can call me whatever kind of fan u want but if I drove 5hrs and spent all that $ to see them put on that embarrassing performance then #### right I would of left. I love my tigers and will support them anyway I can but I can't sit there and watch us get beat like that. I turned the channel after midway through the 3rd quarter

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

To be fair, he started 5 threads about it last year.

Best part is he didn't even go to the game. Apparently he is a better fan for staying home and watching on TV.

Re: So you stayed, yet you conversed with all who left early?

Mar 25, 2014, 10:16 AM

Umm, I don't know what game you were at but traffic couldn't have been any worse. It took 3 hours to get from the entrance of lot 9 to the intersection of Williamson and perimeter.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

All due respect

Mar 25, 2014, 9:11 AM

and I do wish people had stayed longer (and yes, I was at the game as well), but I don't think people around the nation watching this game on TV focused solely on the fact that fans were leaving a blowout and then came to the conclusion that nothing was special about Clemson.

Of course with this said I am still in favor of us all staying and supporting the Tigers at all times!

"Because at the end of the game, everyone knew that they weren’t that much better than us or better than us at all."

plus I think that would of happened at any school

Mar 25, 2014, 9:11 AM

Just the hype that was leading into that game and the expectations. I'm just glad our fans are not like coot fans who throw trash at their players if they aren't playing well (clemson 03 & numerous other times) or throwing trash on the field if a call didn't go their way (FL '13 & numerous other times)

Mar 25, 2014, 9:12 AM

those are two words I almost never use here. I dont take much said here seriously by others and they should not take anything said by me as serious

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-74tiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I completely disagree

Mar 25, 2014, 9:20 AM

On that particular night the team had no interest in being on the field against FSU, they weren't focused, and after halftime they didn't even care. Once that happened they forfeited my support of the team on that particular night.

Case in point how Blanks got trucked by their TE O'leary late in the third quarter. He went in like whatever I guess I'll make the tackle and he got splattered and embarrassed. It didn't matter to O'leary that they were winning by 3+ touchdowns, he was still compteting and playing hard. At that point I left cause the team didn't deserve my support on that night

I left early and don't regret it and never will. When they come out and play that bad and don't bother to even show up in a big game such as that, I will walk out and not look back and you can just get over it. Maybe one day the team (coaches) will get the idea and fix that from happening once a year.

Mar 25, 2014, 10:57 AM

couldn't find any hard liquor left, I went back into the game and saw another FSU score (the fg when they were up 48-7 ###?)

I wasn't mad that they weren't entertaining me. I just can't sit there and watch that happen to the team I love, and spend a lot of money and emotion supporting. It's like watching some stranger beat your dog, and there's nothing you can do to stop it.

However, let me say the fans showed up ready. We contributed greatly to a 3 and out, forcing them to punt from their endzone when the game was still only 17-7.

Re: A significant number of you owe me an apology

Mar 25, 2014, 11:09 AM

Any fan base across the country would have been leaving at half time if their team was getting destroyed like we were that night. Just because a coot posing as a FSU fan on a tiger board says in a thread we are the laughing stock of the nation doesn't make it true. Jameis posting photos of the stadium doesn't either. No one outside of Clemson cares that the fans left early, they simply saw us get beaten. If every fan in the stadium would have stayed until the last miserable second ticked off the clock Jameis would have still posted the same pictures and the national perception of Clemson would be the same it is now which is we got caught up in the hype and had an off night against what turned out to be the best team in the country.

You think those fans are bad... I turned the game off in the FIRST QUARTER. I could easily see that our players laid down and let FSU roll over them. I won't say anymore about that chit, but I saw what the coaches couldn't, and it didn't take the entire season to know that we would lose to the chickens once again. Not really a bad fan...but the players and coaches have to show that they aren't going to lay down in games. It is truly sad sometimes to watch our games. You want to cheer - but you have to have something to cheer about IMO. Our team SUCKED in that game. Did it take the entire game for you to figure it out? Did that make you a better fan? We could probably argue that all season - or for years. I went for a motorcycle ride and enjoyed my day. You probably cried in your beer.

Not sure why those that leave early are viewed as "bad fans"

Mar 25, 2014, 4:36 PM

A football game is just another form of entertainment. If someone goes to a game to be entertained, and they are not getting the entertainment value they anticipated when they entered the stadium, why should they stay? Or if they leave, why are they ridiculed? I've left the movies before because the film was really bad, just the same as I change the channel when the program I'm watching is not entertaining. Many people view their time as precious (especially those traveling to games from out of town), so why should they stay and sit through something that's not enjoyable when they could be doing other things?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: A significant number of you owe me an apology

Mar 25, 2014, 5:05 PM

I really do understand both sides of the leaving early issue. However, with all due respect, the "laughing stock across the nation" is a moot point. Most TV fans, without a dog in the hunt, and just wanting to see a great football game, likely changed the channel long before the Tiger fans left at halftime.

I was there until the last final seconds when Cole got us to double digits. EVERYONE left that game though...including Brad Brownell who was a few rows in front of me. Some would say that the players on the field left that game by the start of the 2nd quarter.

That game was brutal and it was an extreme letdown for all of the fans. You spend the money, time, and effort to get to the game and then you can talk trash to those that didn't stay. Until then you're offending the people that did more than just turn on their tv.
