I doubt it. I think it will be Samol, Lugernic, and a few weekend guys from the bullpen. It's a Tuesday game so technically you could use it as the bullpen sessions for your weekend relievers. 20-30 pitches wouldn't burn anyone for the weekend series. We better be hitting or it won't be pretty.

we managed what 4 total hits against Gardner Webb, so UGA will beat us badly unless hitting improves. The concerning thing is, we are 3/4 thru the sesaon and the hitting has gotten worse. we have way too many hitters batting well below 300 now. It is amazing we have gotten to where we are with such a poor hitting team. Going forward it will be hard to advance out of a regional or super with this hitting currently.

It’s not always about having a high average. Timely hitting can produce more runs than consistent hitting (around .300). When the chips are on the table with RISP our guys come through. It’s called pressure baseball. We’re always putting pressure on the other team with guys that earn walks, stolen bases, hit and run, and/or bunting. That’s what was missing under a Monte Lee. We couldn’t manufacture one run against elite pitching. We are very good at scoring 1-2 runs here and there to claw back into a game.

That said, our pitching is more of a sore spot than our hitting. We give up far too many runs and rely on our 7.7 runs per game to carry the day while only giving up around 4 per game (according to 2025 NCAA stats). Darden is an iffy Saturday starter. Bailey seems to be more of a Saturday guy. I also feel Garris could develop into a 5-6 inning starter after 4.1 innings of strong pitching last night. The weight loss has helped Titsworth also.

Games will be much tighter in post season. I like our chances.

That’s a very good question. We will see when Georgia comes to town. What’s more important? A win vs a top 5 team or building the ACC lead?! It’s kinda Sophie’s choice. Burn Knaak and run out Darden on Friday?! Or take a chance with maybe Garris starting with Allen mid relief and using Mahlstedt to close it up? I’d consider Bailey against UGA and taking a chance our mid-week guys can close out Stanford.

Could easily see Bell getting the start and then maybe getting a first glimpse at Gillen. There will probably be a bullpen by committee to keep everyone's pitch count low for the weekend.
