if Billy Graham was alive and was invited to speak at say, Chapel Hill?
20 years ago I would say there would be zero opposition. Now I bet they would shout him down or refuse to let him on campus.
It’s amazing how “higher institutions of learning” are no longer about free thinking and seeing both sides.

If working behind the scenes to keep JFK from being elected and telling Ford to pardon Nixon is apolitcal, you're right. He did meet and counsel with presidents no matter their party.
There is no way now to find out now whether B. G. did or didn't know and approve what his son, Franklin, did/does on the political front. Your guess is as good as mine.

But he didn't shoot any black people, he shot white people. If he was there to shoot black people, he had ample opportunity to do so. The event in question wasn't a protest anyway, it was a riot. They were torching cars/buildings and destroying everything, he was there in an effort to defend private property. You might not agree with that course of action, but that's the reality of the situation. What you said is simply incorrect.

Mar 19, 2024, 11:11 AM
|

He was on video scrubbing graffiti earlier in the day, and the guy whose property he was on came out and said he was there in an effort to protect it. His intent has been well established.
He had reason to be scared, he was being attacked by a violent felon and another guy armed with a handgun. Again, whether he should have been there in the first place is certainly debatable, but the fact that he acted in self defense was not.
Dr. Levine almost certainly killed many people by placing covid patients in nursing homes.

And no, that’s a lame attempt to pin it on people who share my belief that it is. The overall societal acceptance and normalization of these people has increased while the suicide rates have also increased—not exactly a stat that proves a “tolerance” correlation as the issue.

If traditional body integrity dysphorics have high suicide rates, and suddenly a large percentage of the population starts glorifying their dysphoria and enabling them to get the amputations they crave, but the suicide rate increases, it pretty much nullifies “lack of acceptance” as the primary driver of the suicide rate.

I’m asking for enough respect in return to not snidely suggest that my observation of their actual sex is rooted in some sort of bully-level “fun”. In actuality I think that participating in the gender choice cosplay is being part of the problem, which I’d like to avoid. You may disagree with that too, and that’s fine, but it’s hardly “fun” for me.

As far as I know homosexuals can live happy, productive lives without radical surgery or prescription drugs. Frankly, I don't see how you could come to the conclusion they are the same dysphoria at all...Or that being gay is a dysphoria in the first place.

There's a lot of ground between liking the same sex and thinking you are the opposite sex. If I were a homosexual I'd be pretty insulted by your assertion.
If I liked one legged midgets that would be weird, but a sexual preference. However, if I told you I was a one legged midget despite obviously not being one, that would be mental illness.

on a gas HVAC ignition 'failure to fire'... Just hoping it's not a control board.
Not strenuous... More first step, second step- type of diagnostics.

IMO the transgender movement is the biggest enemy that the homosexual equality movement has, so they anre really odd alphabet bedfellows—from what I’m seeing, many in the latter group are starting to see that as well.
Based on you assuming that, I can tell that you think it’s a basic “bigots vs the enlightened” argument in which you find yourself in the latter category, but no, there’s actual logic at play here and oversimplifying it like that is exactly the division that those pushing this insanely niche issue to the forefront of debate really want.

"insanely niche" article about the insanely niche topic we're discussing...okay.
They're both mental things and they're tightly linked.

You're saying that homosexuality is a "mental thing"

at least, that's how I read your comment.
I realize that I'm sorta third-wheeling this spirited debate, but humor me.
I am not gay, nor have I studied the gay sciences (except for biology in HS), but I'm not sure that all homosexuality is a "mental thing".
Especially when they are finding gay animals and some folks sure do seem to be gay well before they even know what it is.

Genetic/mental thing, yes. I'm not calling it a disorder or illness.

Believing that it’s a choice no one makes but is born with is the crux of why it’s a protected class. There’s never been a protected class you can opt in and out of on a whim.
And yet at the center of the transgender movement is the concept of the fluidity of your gender identity, and how one can opt into and out of various gender identifications on a whim, with the world at large needing to fully acknowledge and respect whatever that whim might be at any given moment. It would literally be the first protected class that one could consciously choose to be in.
It’s a mockery of the gay rights movement and all they’ve argued to pair the two together.

Leftists can't have everyone else thinking it's OK to defend themselves from leftist trash who think they should be able to burn down a business and murder anyone who tries to stop them. And make no mistake they would have murdered Rittenhouse if he had tried to stop them and been unarmed, just as they murdered dozens of others during their burn, loot, murder riots. The fact he isn't dead and his killers aren't still out there alive and well is why the left hates him so.
