Telemarketers have gone too damm far now.

My wife frantically called me to come over to Ma-in-laws house Sunday afternoon. Bro'-in-law was slurring his words, and when I got there, he flunked ALL the EMT questions. He kept telling me his name was "ADEBO", or something like that. I called 911, got real EMTs on the scene (I was last one 32 years ago), and they agreed he had some kind of mental event. He didn't fail the classic stroke tests, as far as motor function or eye dialation, but once in the hospital, it was determined by MRI that he had in fact suffered a minor stroke.
He was put in a regular patient room in the hospital early Monday morning. My wife and I both went and sat with him the whole day during "Covid" reduced visiting hours, which ran from 10 am to 6 pm. During that time, I was fielding a call ON THE HOSPITAL ROOM PHONE literally every 15-20 minutes of people trying to sell him a Medicare Advantage plan. Even after I informed them that they had reached a patient room phone in a HOSPITAL, these jackals refused to hang up until I got heated with them. And, I am NOT exaggerating, this was happening every 15-20 minutes the entire day.
Bro-in-law was REALLY lucky, getting him to the hospital, and getting quick care mitigated his stroke to the most minor thing possible. But, think of ANY patient in a hospital room, possibly mentally impaired, being bombarded with phone calls from people trying to sell him something. That is a recipe for disaster right there. He got discharged late yesterday evening. I called the hospital switchboard this morning, to alert them of what had gone on. It literally took me five different calls, and several encounters with the switchboard operator to finally be connected to an office phone that had anything other than a recording attached to it. The "Customer Service" reps phone, I left TWO messages, a couple hours apart, never did get a reply from her. They can be happy I finally got to speak to someone who seemed concerned, because if that had not happened, my next call was going to be to the local newspaper. Enough is a damnough.

Yea I would be pissed if that happened to me or one of my family members.
Ive done sales with a couple of different companies and I honestly hate the profession with a passion, the do whatever it takes at all cost mentality is just pure ########.

Sorry to hear about your brother-in-law thankfully it turned out to be minor. I usually like to string telemarketers along, make them thing they have a sale or until I get bored then try and agitate them. I do the same thing to scammers, I used to get the "extended car warranty" phone call at least 3 times a day. I haven't had one in months ever since I made up a fake car gave fake information and made them believe I was sending money.

I told a telemarketer selling the extended warranty crap he didn’t have a clue as to what cars I have. He rattled off cars that wasn’t even close to what I actually own. Then told him I had a RR, Lamborghini and a Mercedes. Ask him how much for the coverage and he hung up. My next one when I saw it was listed as a scam I answered the call as Northwest Illinois FBI field office and that one hung up immediately. Love messing with those dudes when I am bored.

John 1 to them.
I have also 'pressed 1' then placed my phone in front of my computer speaker at work while listening to WCCP.
I have also carried on a conversation with the louses (or is it, lice?) in a British Grandmother accent when they want to lower the interest rate on my AmEx card with over £10,000 on it. Completely, bumfuzzled the moron.

I’ve heard of cruel, but the phone in front of the radio and subjecting them to WCCP may be too cruel even for a scammer or telemarketer, and potentially dangerous if it’s between 9am and 12 pm
