Dabo not going to Auburn

I just don't see that. But, it does remain a possibility that if given enough money, he might leave Clemson one day. It would have to be an insane amount of money given his recent contract. And I really do believe Dabo loves it here.

But we need to discuss a doomsday scenario. Let's say it does happen one day soon. Dabo gets an offer to Alabama or A&m or UCLA or whatever. What is the plan? What will Neff do?

Would Neff continue the tradition of promoting from within? If so, who gets the job? I just don't see Streeter getting the job. Nor Grishem. Goodwin? I don't see it. I would imagine that Neff would do a national search. But who knows.

No I don't like thinking about it, because I love Dabo. Yes I've disagreed with some of his recent decisions, but so what? I disagree with my wife too, but I wouldn't want her to leave either. I do think Dabo is happy here...but I do think we need to be prepared. I never thought Venables would leave for any job other than Kansas State.

Ah. Noted.

This is not a real concern. We pay Dabo an obscene amount of money. Dabo isn’t starting over for another million per year and if someone pays him another $5 million, we’ll, that’s their choice. I am a huge Dabo fan but no coach is worth unlimited funds.

But it’s a silly scenario. I think people think Bama is Mama but at this point, Clemson is mama. It’s where he’s been most of his career. It’s the school that gave him his chance, not the one that fired him. It’s the one that pulled him back from corporate real estate. It’s the one where he was able to create his vision. It’s the one where his kids grew up and where his kids played. It’s the one where he has won two national championships. If you cut Dabo, I suspect there is very little Crimson blood. All Orange at this point.

I know the idea is funny, but why the rumors? A thought ...
What if Dabo is being pressured to make changes that he just doesn't want to make?

Dabo is a man of convictions. I doubt he would take being told how to run the program.
Would the stuff about Auburn just be a shot across the bow of those applying the pressure?

I've smoke some really good stuff in my day and some even gave me slight hallucinations but none ever made me that delusional. They have to be smoking angel dust.
