Obviously this list is heavily influenced by money which is why there are a lot of SEC schools listed throughout. That eSECpn money helps them with things like this that don't really matter.

More money equates to dominance in sports , huh ? Hmm...just this year :
Golden State (NBA) Duke ( MBB) UVA (MBb) . These three small market and/or small money teams say that theory won't wash .
Clemson has always owned Scar , little extra money still won't polish that terd in Cola.

This is by revenue generated. Not success on the playing field. I think USC is approaching 35,000 students making it roughly twice the size of Clemson. That's a lot of alumnae.

A listing of dollars and attendance figures -- That is not the true meaning of "The most dominant college sports program in every state"

Squandering every opportunity to be great despite unlimited funds and blind faith fan support is actually the opposite of DOMINANT.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think it's amazing

Jul 12, 2015, 11:57 AM

That usc jr is the dominant athletic program in the state of South Carolina but their football recruiting sits at #70 in the country, behind teams like:

Texas State
Southern Methodist
Tulane
La Tech
Western Michigan
San Diego State
Arkansas (#40)
Vandy
USF
Syracuse
Illinois
Washington State
Oregon St.
Missouri (uh oh)

Only 5 commits? How in the world will jr fill the other 35 (soon to be open) scholarships they're looking to fill?

Yikes. Maybe Fields changes his mind soon?

Exactly. With a much better tradition, far more favorable media coverage & better on-field results, inflated financial & false attendance figures mean diddly squat.

worst football programs in the history of college football, and throughout their history their athletics overall have been mediocre to terrible. All that money hasn't changed the cheap way in which they build and renovated their facilities. All that money doesn't change the fact that Billy Brice stadium has open air restrooms within 15 feet of the concession stands. Re: Anyone want to weigh in on this???

Jul 12, 2015, 3:31 PM

I can answer this one and it comes down to school population, city population, and fan base. The Clemson fan hates to admit it but we do not have a big fan base in this state. We are pretty well known throughout the US and more spread out than our counterparts. With a big population in Columbia, more people will attend a game whether the product is good or not. Also a gnat with a 2.5 GPA can get into South Carolina. They have more public money going in there as well. They have also had recent success in the three major sports on campus. They are several factors. Let me tell you why I am not bothered by this and what this is actually saying:

1) UCLA is on this list. So is Florida. Which goes to show it ain't about winning.

2) Money does not equate to winning (see reason #1)

3) South Carolina is the major university in the state in the state's capitol city.

4) While South Carolina has a big "fan" base, Clemson has a dedicated fan base and you don't need financials to back that claim. When Clemson isn't doing well, you don't see the number of fans jumping off the bandwagon as you did when South Carolina loss six games in just one season.

It's safe to say, I am happy about our dedicated fan base!

This is #CLEMSON where we go #ALLIN!!!
