Jordyn Adams breaks down Clemson and UNC, ready to make a decision

The recruiting process can be fun, stressful and exhausting all at the same time, and Jordyn Adams is ready to put it all behind him. The 4-star 2018 Cary (NC) Green Hope wide receiver will announce his decision Monday, July 3rd at Nike’s The Opening Final at Nike World Headquarters. Full Story »

a family atmosphere than Clemson"............We can't put every players dad on the payroll.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That is an absolute joke.

Jun 30, 2017, 8:11 AM

No way anywhere in the country presents a family atmosphere like Clemson. Everybody else that says it is just copying us and lying.

Also, I thought it was against the rules to hire a family member and then recruit their family now? Or is that just coaches?

Snowflake Basher........Out

it's legal. Those made up staff positions are not.

We shouldn't. UNC knows how to cheat . That is bs that UNC is more family friendly. They have fake classes. Adams will never see a conference championship at UNC.

No program can 'out family' Clemson. None. Someone needs to be udner concussion protocol.

It looks like

Jun 30, 2017, 8:09 AM

he's heading to North Carolina, which is fine since he's got gamecock blood in him. Justyn Ross would be a bigger prize for the Tigers !

Uh , fat boy , by the same reasoning , didn't Jeff Scott have gamecock blood in him ?

Best of luck to this young man. He's right, he won't see as much playing time at Clemson.

With our history as WRU, high draft pick's already in the NFL, and stable of current depth?

Add in the quality of QB's on the rosater, and committed?

We will have top rated WR's committing every year.

Re: New Story: Jordyn Adams breaks down Clemson and UNC, ready to make a decision

Jun 30, 2017, 11:14 AM

One thing I see a lot of on here and it's pretty childish tbh but as long as a good recruit saying or possible coming to clemson he's good but soon as they say something like they might go somewhere else, it's he wouldn't have played or overrated. This is life guys we don't get every recruit we want, we get a lot but no one can get them all! So saying that this kid is definitely good enough to see the field for Clemson so don't take that away from him bc he said UNC has a family atmosphere TO HIM like one person said might have to do with his dad aka family working for the team so yes it's going to feel like family more, just like I'm sure our coaches think of our players as family his dad prob does too so not that mind blowing for him to say that!

Jun 30, 2017, 11:24 AM

Don't get me wrong, I don't think he's overrated, or not worth the rating he has.

His point was that he would get playing time as soon as he gets on campus.

We have talent, as good or better, that will have experience under their belts.

Our depth chart is not loaded with seniors, and we may only have 1 or 2 leave early.

Even though he says that his dad isn't in his head, with him saying that UNC has a better family atmosphere proves that his dad is in his head. Players that has committed and signed with UNC has NEVER made the statement that UNC has a better family feeling, they all played at UNC for different reasons, but none never mentioned the family feeling!!!!

Re: New Story: Jordyn Adams breaks down Clemson and UNC, ready to make a decision

Jun 30, 2017, 8:54 AM

Agreed. The family feeling he gets is because of his father being there on staff. It puts everyone else at a slight disadvantage in this case, but with that said ,Clemson is still in his top two schools. Take out his father being a coach and to me it would be an easier decision for him. There is no way that have out QB roster is ever going to be challenge by UNCheat . But what do I know an NFL team picked Trubinsky over DW4.

Anyone have any idea what his 40 time is? I've read he's a speedster, but then the best I can find is a 4.8 forty?? That can't be right

Good posts above. I agree likely going to the heels. Hope the young man considers possible NCAA sanctions in his decision. "more of a family at UNC" is a joke. Only because dad is there. It's not just my opinion but the view of countless recruits over the past X years. His choice whatever the reason and he has to live with the result.

2024 orange level membermilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dad at UNC and has coach coots.

Jun 30, 2017, 9:49 AM

Maybe the boy has seen enough losing and wants to play for a real football team. I'm gonna go out on limb and suggest maybe he surprises everyone by picking the Tigers? If I'm wrong, so be it. It will just mean he is completely transparent right now.

Family Atmosphere Comment (and other considerations)

Jun 30, 2017, 10:04 AM

I think everyone is over-reacting to his comment about UNC being more of a family atmosphere. I read the quote as "To me, UNC is more of a family atmosphere." His dad is a coach. It doesn't get more family than that.

UNC is a great school, has a beautiful campus and they seem headed in the right direction as a football program.

That said, if I am a highly touted football recruit as a rising Senior in high school, I would strongly consider 3 points.

1) Do I want another 4 years of my Dad following my every move and knowing my every social interaction? I found that a little distance between me and my father during college was a very good thing. It helped me grow up and learn how to make decisions on my own.

2) Do I want to play football at a basketball school? He may be Big Man On Campus at his high school, but at UNC he'll be playing second fiddle to their roster of future NBA 1st round gazillionaires. The reverse of this argument is made annually by UNC basketball to recruits considering Clemson.

3) Finally, do I want to be a champion? UNC Football was last relevant in the ACC 37 years ago in 1980. Clemson has won 9 ACC titles since that time, including the last 2 (in addition to winning the Natty last year). If winning championships is a factor, then UNC is not.

Should he elect to play at UNC, then those 3 considerations were not important to him. And, that's OK. He is a very talented player and I'd love to see him compete at Clemson. But, it's a personal decision made by a 17 year old young man and it won't bother me at all if he plays for UNC.

Re: Family Atmosphere Comment (and other considerations)

Jun 30, 2017, 10:16 AM

His dad's job is with UNC, A kid will have difficulty pulling the trigger for another team - it does happen - Amari Rodgers, but his father was on the other side of the country, and you wonder about how involved he was.

Jordyn's dad also coached at usc - so there's the built-in negativity towards Clemson.

I would be shocked if he says Clemson, but it is possible. I think we have done a fantastic job of identifying his talent early and Jeff Scott is a fantastic coach and recruiter.

He said his father's position was not the deciding factor. This sounds like he is justifying his decision for choosing UNC.

good points

one quibble...

i think the Heels were 'relevant' in the ACC in 2015...

but who knows how long it will be before they are again considering the near-total offense rebuild
