Any truth to this I heard about TDP to Dabo?

Nov 28, 2022, 5:39 PM

I read somewhere on tnet that Dabo was told by TDP to hire a capable OC and get out of calling plays, leading to the Chad hire. I’m not stating this cause I don’t know, I’m asking if anyone recalls this.

even if it's true that couldn't happen now. Dabo's sitting on two national championships, 6 straight playoffs, 10-win season streak, a HOF Induction, etc. He has all the leverage to tell the AD to go pound sand

Lose like he did to the coots Saturday several more times and all those playoff appearances and national championships will become yesterday’s news very quick. College football is all about the money now and if you can’t sell tickets the money stream will dry up very quickly…..these coaches are making major bucks and fans are pissed not because we lose but the way we loss to the coots….we were not outplayed but totally outcoached by the coots….and our coaches still have their heads stuff in the sand as if everything is still hunky dory…..no accountability, no solutions, and no changes….appears to be way we are stuck and that is why fans are pissed with this coaching staff…..period!

I think you need to drop CU football

And find a roller derby team to support.

He needs to drop Clemson football for pointing out the reality of college football today? That’s a helluva take. Everyone appreciates what Dabo has done, and I don’t think there’s many calling for him to be fired or leave, so legitimate criticism of where the program appears headed, are generally that, legitimate. I get that there’s a segment of this fan base that is perfectly happy about winning the ACC and making the playoffs once every 3-4 years, going to the Orange Bowl and calling it a day, but that’s antiquated thinking for the current landscape of college football, especially when the ACC appears to be dying on the vine. I’d say the closest comparable to Dabo is Bobby Bowden, and their eventually come a point where he didn’t adapt, and it was time to move on. Not saying it’s time to move on from Dabo, but he definitely needs to adapt to the portal, and not hiring former players and guys who came up under him.

We lost to USF to end with a losing season so he had to do

something to right the ship. Much different circumstances.

Although, losing as we did to USC may be enough for Dabo’s mindset to make a change again.

Chad Morris was one year removed from high school coaching and was coaching at one of the historically worst FBS programs. It’s insane to think that was pushed on Dabo. It seems largely forgotten that Morris and Venables were both seen as highly suspect hires. Venables was being demoted at Oklahoma.

Chad was questionable be 1yr removed from HS, buy he had won in the highest level of HS with a wide open offense that wasn't the norm in college at the time. Everyone was surprised because we averaged 88plays per game. That trend was pushed immediately by Chad and Mus. Then we had the Saban rule come out after we almost beat Bama in championship. So yes, he was suspect but he was also the newest breed of offense that could change our bubble screen woes.

Nothing about CBV was suspect. He had won a natty already. He had one of best Def in a very potent offensive conference. Everyone loved his hire and he proved his worth!!

Dabo hasn't hired a single D1 coach or at least a P5 coach since he hired CBV.

Then you aren’t remembering well. Stoops was bringing his brother back and demoting BV to co-coordinator position and his defenses had been torched for two seasons at Oklahoma. Plenty of people complained about it on this board.

I remember the radio host on Columbia

Sports talk rating the Venables hire a C. Mentioned how the folks at Oklahoma were glad to be getting rid of him.
Past few years I wish I had that audio to play back for him.
