an upgrade on Cade or DJ. The only one I’ve seen is Pearman. He would be another Vandy type QB. Not big but smart a love for Clemson and the heart of a lion. We have not seen the heart of a lion at QB in a long time. You can bet the other ACC foes will be upgrading their QBs and will pay to get a good one next season. You can not operate an offense without a good QB.

I don’t think Pearman would be an upgrade from Cade. What have you seen to say that?
The spring game is nothing more than a glorified scrimmage. I don’t put two cents into any of them.

There is 0 evidence that Pearman is better than Cade. I think it's very, very unlikely that he is. He was good in high school. That said, Daniel plays cupcakes (there's a huge dropoff from 5A to 4A in SC). Since he came to Clemson, he has attempted 8 passes and completed 3 of them (and thrown a pick). He looked good in the Spring game back in 2024, but that's not a real game situation and our defense was abysmal.
His ceiling is probably a bit below Chase Brice. He could maybe start at a tiny school, but I've seen no evidence to suggest he's an upgrade over any of our QBs in the past 15 years.
I probably would play him over Vizzina (I just think Vizzina is terrible). But I don't think there's a QB at Clemson right now that's close to Cade (or pre-UGA DJ - I'm convinced all those sacks + Streeter ruined him). I think they have to go to the portal if they want to stay relevant in any capacity.

I guess that’s why South Pointe beat Northwestern.
I guess that’s why 3A Oceanside Collegiate beat Dutch Fork.
You are dead wrong about the 4A and 5A drop off.
South Pointe and South Florence are both excellent teams capable of beating any 5A team and the proof is in the pudding.
That was an incredibly ignorant statement.

If we don’t go all in on a portal QB - and I am confident we won’t - we are in for a worse season next year.
