we cannot trust the government to robustly and accurately run any type of database or list to include a gun/firearm no-buy/no-own database.
This just came in regarding arguably one of the most important information systems out there - the one that contains security clearance info/data:
Over the past few months there has been a transition in the Personnel Security System of Record from the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) to the Defense Information System for Security (DISS).
During this transition, SCI tickets for many personnel did not transfer to DISS appropriately. This does not mean that personnel have been debriefed [clearance removed], but that tickets may not be visible, causing confusion in eligibility to access SCI.
While we hope to avoid any interruptions to access, we recognize that the possibility exists. If you become impacted please notify us so we can work with the SCI owning agency to have your SCI ticket record corrected as quickly as possible.
Please provide any correspondence with the owning agency to help streamline a resolution. SCI owning agencies are aware of this issue and are working to correct the records, but this is a time consuming process.
This is just one "minor" thing, but over a career it's one thing after another and it all adds up to the same result. Dead people are issued SS checks. One of my employees was on the do not travel list years ago and it took him a year and congressional help to get off. The gov't has lost millions of people's private data (I'm talking deep private, not just my b-day and middle name) including mine and my families, and it goes on and on.
For those of you who think the government is here to help, you need to be educated on how the government really works (or doesn't).
