Another observation on the coots

After years of having a substandard program and athletes that were hail bent on embarrassing their chicken coop university they have a guy like Marcus Lattimore come along. Soft spoken and upright citizen.
He is pretty unassuming and had a decent career. Unfortunate injuries along the way. When you get right down to it...he had a pretty good career in a pedestrian sort of way.
What do they do? Give him his own "day". They view him as the second coming. Maybe give him a key to the city?
I doubt you will see a whole lot more of him it Columbia. Unlike Clemson when they leave they rip off the rearview mirror. There is no feeling of nostalgia...just a feeling of good riddance.
Marcus is a good guy. We have seen MANY of his kind come through Clemson. It happens because that is how we recruit. It is part of the process. When they finish here they take Clemson with them. It remains part of them forever and they can't wait to get back.
See at Clemson as good as the young man is/was they always know that the place gave back as much or more. Something that just doesn't happen down the road.

You kind of make my point. Even the guys who NEVER got in trouble in Columbia don't darken the doorways of the cockroach after they leave much less the bad seeds.

Marcus Lattimore is an innocent small town kid who didn't know what he was getting into when he headed South. He now is about as far away from that craphole as he can get and better off for it!
