Re: Another coot DB gone

Wish he didn't transfer because any depth in the secondary will help. He could have been a decent DB, I believe.
But the driving force of his transfer was not making the baseball team, which was his main reason for signing with SC. Seems like a good kid, hope he gets some good PT and does well out west.

Where ya been Jester? This happened quite some

time ago. I know I (and other Tiger fans) celebrated this coot loss some time ago. I don't know much about him but I'm sure they wish they had him now. Whatever weakens 'em, I'm all for...

Yep. I'd be all in for all coot players "that don't see eye to eye" with coot coaches transferring.

Big loss, though I imagine they will try to minimize it now

This is what GoGamecocks said back in December when he was thinking about leaving. Bet coot fans will spin it a little differently now that he is gone:
"Christian’s departure won’t have much effect on the No. 8 Gamecocks’ postseason but could be a big loss looking ahead to a future that is short on cornerbacks. South Carolina’s starting tandem of Jimmy Legree, a senior, and Victor Hampton, a junior, will enter the NFL Draft after the bowl game.
Christian was the team’s third-leading tackler among cornerbacks this year with 18 stops to go along with two pass breakups and a forced fumble. His exit will leave junior Ronnie Martin, redshirt freshman Rico McWilliams and true freshman Ali Groves as the only returning cornerbacks next season. Martin and McWilliams barely saw the field this season, and McWilliams’ one tackle is the only statistic they accumulated."

...I guess they are expecting zero from Chaz Elder, who was in the secondary last year as a sophomore I believe... Keep the losses coming coots!!

Elder is a safety and will most likely start every game

I believe that safety is a DB, and again, no mention of Elder being able to help minimize the losses... But whatever floats your boat...

Your posts continue to not make sense. Elder is a safety. Always has been and always will be. He'll start opposite Gurley this season. Christian leaving has no impact on Elder's playing time since it's a different position. I'm not trying to troll I really just don't know what you are trying to say

Decipher the title of the post......... take a minute to do that before continuing to read............. Here you go....... You lose another "DB", no it doesn't affect anyone's playing time except the backups that now need to step up. But it does affect the overall play of the secondary because of the losses and non-qualifying "DB's" who were expected to contribute immediately. With unexpected losses, you anticipate that remaining experienced players will take up some of the additional slack. If you do not expect Elder to step up as a leader to try to help to minimize the losses and pre-enroll attrition, then my comments are not going to mean much to you. Inexperience and lack of depth puts additional pressure on returning starters and lettermen. Elder has gotten very little recognition for being a returning starter which usually means he has not stood out to the staff nor the media covering the team...
