Why would we want W V in our conference ?

There is little control of who gets in their school. Much lower testing stores. We have turned them down before.

70-33 > 27-7
In all seriousness I grew up in WV. Been a fan of the Mountaineers all my life. However after a career in the Marine Corps my family settled down in Anderson. My children attend Clemson so obviously I now support Clemson. I'm see the SEC trying to grow even more down the road. FSU and Clemson would definitely be two targets. If that doesn't happen until further down the road then adding WVU now gives you a good football and basketball program that would make the ACC product a little better on the field immediately. Right now Clemson is doing all the heavy lifting. If the expansion is stopping at 16 for awhile I see it as your best option. Those that think Penn State leaving the Big 10 are delusional IMHO. Don't see that happening.
Good luck against the Dawgs !!!. WVU beat them the last time we played them. So no pressure.

LOL .... I remember my first beer too. Hillbillies ? You must have never visited the northern parts of Oconee, Pickens, and Spartanburg Counties. Brent Venables is a good coach and even a better man. However the last time he coached against WVU he lost 48-28 in the 2008 Fiesta Bowl. Unless Clemson goes to the SEC WVU brings a good product to the ACC. It would be a much funnier game for your fans than some of the teams you play now.

Because it would bring a competitive team to the conference and could be the start of realignment depending on which way Notre Dame goes. The new commissioner needs to tell Notre Dame they need to join or take the noon day stage out of Morgantown .If Notre Dame joins full time ,you have your two new teams. But if not, and WVU in, that would at least put the ACC in the drivers seat for expansion and not Notre Dame.

Simply responding to the comment about WVU academics:

West Virginia University is a research-intensive university known for excellence in the STEM fields. Thus, the university tends to attract ambitious students eager for hands-on opportunities, rigorous academics, and a wide selection of degree programs. More than 350 different majors are available at the bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and professional levels. This includes degree programs in Forensics and Investigative Science which were originally created by the FBI and still act as a top choice for those interested in ultimately working in forensics. In addition to the 25 Rhodes Scholars who have graduated from West Virginia, the list of alumni includes 45 Goldwater Scholars, 24 Truman Scholars, and 64 Fulbright Scholars.
It seems if someone wants to get a good ducation there, the opportunity exists.

I agree. I would show ND the door if they are not 100% committed to the conference.

join a conference that is bringing in $20 million less than SEC and BIG10 and this will grow to 30-40 in the near future. It’s like volunteering for a ride on the Titanic.

West Virginia wouldn't be my first choice

but the ACC isn't left with a while lot of options. I'd love Penn State and Notre Dame, but that's highly unlikely. Bringing in Cincinnati or UCF will bring no credibility to an already weak conference.
