on ESPN........
all the guys on there agreed.....with the PAC-12 abd Big 10 comments today, the 4-conference alignment is taking shape and it is becoming very apparent to all that Notre Dame and the members of the ACC (and other small conferences) are set to be left behind.

for the replay? Seriously. Who are the Pac-12's next four teams going to be to make them the "super conference"? Boise State I can see. Wyoming? Colorado State? UNLV or Nevada U? Cal-State Fullerton?
How much college football is going to be played between now and September 1st?
How much time will college football fans spend devouring ESPN programming during that time keeping up with the new soap opera?
ESPN has a lot to gain by keeping college football fans tuned in during the vast expanse of nothingness that is summer time.
Don't believe the hype.

Yea that is what they said, but do all the other teams not count. You can't just pick the NC from 64 teams. That is just a champion of those 64. There could possibly be a few teams out of the rest could beat the big 4's champion. Ever hear of David and Goliath?

They never let the non-AQs in the championship. (Remember Utah, BYU, Boise St. ETC...)
This deal is no different. More pieces of the pie for the Big Boys.

and the likelihood of them joining the BigXII has gone up significantly in the last few weeks.
There are a lot of hurdles to clear... but they hold the cards for teams 13 and 14 in the Big XII.

Do you really believe that major colleges like Clemson, or North Carolina, or even UVA,or Maryland are simply going to be left out to dry by the NCAA? Or that the NCAA is going to allow a few schools to do this to EVERY other school. I can assure that even Washington will get involved before this is allowed to happen. I can't tell you how this will end. But, I will assure you it won't end like this.

But publicly supported schools dealing in interstate
Jun 4, 2012, 7:33 PM

commerce fall under the realm of the feds if it comes down to it.
There is, and understand the pause, no freaking way that a college football championship scenario is going to be limited to 64 teams only to have access, when there are 120+ sized institutions in the mix. It is not going to happen, especially once it expands to 4 teams.
As far as the ACC is concerned, I could care less. Our program is helping subsidize many teams in the league with nothing to show in return. The 9th conference game was the move over the top, especially being saddled with Syracuse. However, that's not going to stop, ever, Clemson University from winning a national championship in football if it takes care of its business on the field.

They could easily make a different division like they did with Div.1, 2 and three. they could relegate themselves to a division all by themselves and call it 1A.Anything is possible and everything changes. You either plan ahead or fall behind. It is the way the world works.

institutions deciding at what level and at what expense they chose to compete. "They" could do no such thing today.
There are 435 congressional districts in the US, plus two senators from every state. Obviously there are more pressing things than college football to deal with on a national level, but since they've shown themselves incapable of actually addressing real problems with any sense, I can guaran-dang-tee you that what you describe would never fly today.
Programs chose the different levels in the past based on economics and costs to participate. A forced arrangement like this today is pure fantasy.

more representatives in Congress than any other group of states. This is due to population alone, but Washington never got involved for the MWC, Con.-USA. etc.
I do find it hard to believe that a conference with FSU, Clemson, VT, Miami, GT, UNC, NC STATE, Pitt is going to be considered on the outside looking in, but that seems to be the way they are going. I mean look at most preseason polls and you'll see FSU, Clem, VT, NC ST, Miami, or anywhere from four to five teams in the top-25. Can they be considered not a major conference? Seems the others are trying to make it that way.

to take the ACC out of the picture completely...
1. Champions Bowl bluffs the ACC into uneasiness and causes teams to begin looking around (CU and FSU were already down that road).
2. If they take the top schools away (CU/FSU/UNC/GT/NCSU/VT)... the ACC is dead.

I can hardly wait to hear what these "experts" have to say next. I guess I have to tune in, see a couple of Chevy ads, maybe find out what new Papa John's deals are available, check out a JG Wentworth pitch, and maybe they'll talk expansion at some point.

conferences are "saying" is irrelevant. Just look at their actions. Their actions speak much louder than words and their actions speak to the reality that the college football world as we knew it is gone.
Now we can disagree about what Clemson should do amidst all these changes but the one thing that can't be disputed is that things are changing and doing nothing would be suicide.

Yep, and our President and the BOT are so far away from seeing the assets Championship Athletics brings to the University, it almost is criminal. This is not a new thing, sadly, and I don't have much hope that it will change before the train has left the station without us.

conferences, and then what? Have 4 giant mega conferences? That sounds TERRIBLE!!!!! Personally, I hate most of the other conferences and the media advantages they had over the decades during the poll era, because larger newspaper & television companies existed in Los Angeles, Chicago, & Dallas or other larger regional cities. That's not going to work either, because the dominant schools in those conferences are still going to have the same advantages. Which is going to water down everything for everyone else.
