and frankly, if this merger happens, there aren't enough quality teams to move the needed on the financial disparity with the BIG and the SEC. It will be a league of teams that have nowhere else to go.

Somehow they just let the SEC and Big 10 make and set the rules and there are good
clean teams out there who are not going to be allowed to play. Kind of like an entry fee in golf or these special dinner events organizations have where each plate is $5000 to raise money for something nobody has ever heard of. Its football...... winning is winning and the winner should get the most amount. After that every team should get the same amount.........that is fair

Wont work. It would mean the same amount of payout for each school. TV Contract May increase but you have to divide it by more schools

Would never work. Neither the B1G nor the SEC want a single Big 12 school. None of them are of any real value. This, the valuable schools in the ACC would just be sharing revenue with more schools. This is why any ACC school that has a landing spot in the P2 will be gone as soon as is possible. Any remaining Big 12 and ACC schools will not be big revenue earners. So, they would be right back in the same place earning way, way less than the P2.

Contrary to Urban Myth ... now some of the naysayers say schools like UCF, Cincy, Houston and SMU are not worthy ...
WHERE are these schools located ? In areas with HIGH population. THAT is what is important. How many people will be reached with advertising dollars. The fact that a school is awesome in say Beach Vollyball is nice but really, its reaching the masses through the media. That is why a merger of ACC and B12 makes sense, viewership.
Also add UConn, really, there are lots of Limousine Liberals there and they like Sports too, like Basketball.

I mean it’s been pretty well established that location alone doesn’t strongly correlate to viewership. If it did you’d see Rutgers, Maryland, Northwestern and Boston College drive some tremendous numbers.
The fact of the matter is, they don’t.
Further expansions are going to focus on the brands that bring in the most people (I.e., FSU, Clemson, OK State, UNC)

The expanded playoff makes it feasible to return to smaller regional conferences like it used to be.

Two years ago maybe by adding Utah and paring the new conference down to 18 - 20 teams getting rid of the dead wood. That ship sailed.

Give me one reason why the Big 12 would want to merge with the ACC? Did they want a Pac 12 merger? No!
It makes no sense at all for them. Why keep bringing it up?
On the other hand, the Big 12 would love to poach a couple of schools if the ACC collapses. They won't touch the dregs of the conference that bring nothing to the table.

The Big 10, the SEC and the BIG 12 are negotiating who takes who from the ACC.
The BIG 12 is only taking enough schools to get the magic number that dissolves the grant of rights.

If they merged into say an 18 team conference you'd actually have a pretty decent conference football wise. Get rid of the bottom tier of each and its actually not too shabby a group. Still clearly third place but not a huge gap, especially if Clemson and FSU were on board. I realize this a is completely impossible scenario however.
