2023 schedule

This has to be one of the more difficult schedules we’ve had in recent memory, no?
Duke went 9-4 and will be in year 2 Uber Elko. Plus, they return a lot. They might be a top 35 team.
NC State probably goes 10-3 if Leary stayed healthy all year. They do lose some key players on defense, but they brought in Brennan Armstrong. They are a top 25 team.
FSU went 10-3, got on a roll, returned a lot of production, and signed one of the top transfer portal classes. They should be a top 15 team this year.
Miami should be better in year 2 under Cristobal. The talent is there. They should be a top 25 team this year.
Notre Dame will be a lot better with Sam Hartman. Their OL dominated our front 7 last year. Now they’ll have a much better QB. They could be a top 10 team.
UNC finished poorly. But Drake Maye might be the best QB in the country (maybe Caleb Williams). They brought in one of the top portal WRs. They are a top 25 team.
South Carolina, I know nobody wants to admit it, but they have made leaps under Beamer. Rattler and Wells killed us last year and both are back. They are a top 25 team.
We play 7 teams that won 8 or more games last year. That’s a pretty stout schedule. Fortunately, our two toughest opponents come to Death Valley.
Either way, if the offense can make leaps under Garrett Riley, we can finish 11-1 or 12-0. Unless the defense just completely collapses in year 2 under Wes.

Some good points. I agree that the new offense should be enough to get to 11-1 and a playoff appearance. We have some opportunities early in the season to get it in gear.
When you say “Miami should be a top 25 team”, I’ll believe it when I see it.

UGA plays UT Martin, Ball St., & UAB. Bama plays Middle Tennessee, South Florida, and UT Chattanooga OSU plays Youngstown St and Western Kentucky back-back. Michigan plays ECU, Bowling Green, and UNLV back-back-back.
What's your point?

My point is those are wasted games for an already short season. There's nothing entertaining about them. They're meaningless, unless you lose of course.

They're meaningful in that they give Dabo & staff an opportunity to develop young players and build depth with real-game experience.

3 home games in a row in the hottest month. 1 home game in the "normal" month. 3 home games in a row in the coldest month.
That sucks.

I think one is just a poser troll. Looking to get his kicks off by being a jacksass. I could be wrong, but Trotsky at least had good analytical posts about Clemson. The other just blabs on about dumb political ideologies.

I would agree that it's a more difficult schedule due mostly to improved play in the ACC.
The game against FSU will set the tone for the rest of the season.
If we manage to get by them the meat of the schedule is backloaded after the bye week.
I'm hopeful that Cade will be a lot further along by then and he and Riley are clicking. That will be imperative to closing out a strong season

I really think Duke will set the tone. We should dominate with the sheer talent gap. But if we struggle, I can imagine us dropping at least 2 games.

We won't dominate Duke. Especially on the road. But we should win comfortably. The difference at QB will be immediately noticeable

The road factor shouldn’t be a big deal. They don’t have a large stadium and I would imagine Clemson fans will be at least 35% of the crowd.

There isn't much of an advantage with the exception Clemson plays poorly at the start of the season regardless of who we play. Just jump on them early and don't let them hang around. Sounds easy enough

We should be great at the start. Duke won’t really have film on our new offense. They’ll watch TCU and our film to see our playmakers. But they’ll still have no idea how Garrett Riley will adapt his philosophy to our skill set.

in the top 25. Probably not South Carolina either. We have 3 real games this year- FSU, Notre Dame, and our rivalry game. We have to win 2/3, and then beat the others as expected.

FSU and ND are the only teams with the LoS players needed to beat Clemson. With competent QB play and at least the same level of production out of the defense the tigers had last year should not have more than 2 losses on a bad year.
I personally think Wes was a larger problem then Streeter last year, that said let's see what he can do in year 2 with a much more expierenced secondary.
