It’s going to be a hard to continue this

Jan 17, 2022, 8:27 PM

indefinitely, but being a former Clemson player seems to be a requirement these days for new coaching hires as well as transfer portal additions.

As a Brad Brownell fan he has absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.

Maybe basketball should

Follow this winning formula.

We will see if it works.

It’s too early to tell if Streeter, Grisham, Spiller, Austin, etc. are national championship caliber or not.

It doesn’t necessarily matter.

The obvious limitation is that it reduces the pool of qualified candidates for a given position. But Dabo seems to be doing a great job with it. I’m thrilled with the Eason hire, and Hunter Johnson is a great addition at QB.

It’s interesting to me that he has prioritized that so much recently, and it made me chuckle that when he finally got a player from the portal it was a former Clemson guy.

I hope you can get a kick out of it too.

Because they’re making our hoops program

Look terrible. We’re limiting our searches and still crushing them. That’s after Dabo beat Brad at basketball 1:1. And we let Grant walk and he’s 10x the coach Brad is. We should have hired him like football would have.

I can get behind this move. HJ was in no way brought here to contend for the starting qb job. He was brought here to be a third string/emergency option that adds depth who isn’t a walk on. For a fallback option who’s only going to be here for one year to already know the playbook is a great thing, especially if doomsday comes and he has to play.

Idk man,

Jan 17, 2022, 8:38 PM

Hunter could beat out DJ possibly.

Re: Idk man,

Not a chance, in my humble opinion. Him not coming until fall pretty much seals that deal. And DJ would have to be a much worse qb than he was last year, which would be really hard to do with a healthy receiving core and a more cohesive o line.

And I shouldn’t say not a chance, but instead very unlikely, in my humble opinion.

Dabo is setting us up for decades of success. Not only with smart ball players who will want to come here because they know that if the NFL doesn’t work out then they’ll have a shot at coaching but also down the line when all the great coaches we have now retire and we need to find the next great ones. Who will be more committed to Clemson than former Clemson men? Very few.

Brad could do it with his coaching tree but his coaching tree just whooped his ###.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

I’m a fat slob

Jan 17, 2022, 9:10 PM

Who never played for Clemson or even went to school here. I never knew Dabo growing up or in college. I’m just good at my job. Sometimes former tigers are the best option, especially for longevity.

But I do find it hilarious someone who keeps saying Brad deserves to keep his job has ANYTHING negative to say about football here. Worry about the 2x4 in your own eye before picking at the splinter in brother’s eye.
