Only saw some of it at the gym, but combine this with the police interview in the car at the scene, and I think this guy has lied so much that he forgot what it sounds like.

Still early, but so far, not answered by the defense
1.Blue Tarp/Jacket Shelly saw?
2.Fired gun rounds at deer stands on property with same chambered marks as murder rounds?
3.Called Maggie 3-4 times on way to mothers but didn’t call Paul and say “hand the phone to your ma”
4.Said in early interview the threats were minor but Paul hadn’t told him everything. Now threats were over the top and outrageous?
5.Left shed for house in golf cart after dog video (8:55ish), for a 10 min nap only to leave for mother’s at 9:07? Short nap.
6.Blood marks inside of Paul’s back pocket, when he saw phone fall from Paul’s pocket?
7.Said early (and now) he knew they were dead when he arrived, yet asked cop on the scene “are they dead?”
8.Told 911 he touched to see if they were breathing, when he just described Paul’s brain scattered across floor and Maggie with a head shot?
9.His working the housekeepers to his "schedule"
Not 100% sure if he's guilty, but this guy can't breath without lying. Only way I can see he's innocent is if the time of death is after 9:15ish or so, after he left, and even then he still could have hired a gunman.
So far his testimony hasn't added anything, cleared anything up, and only confirmed, by his own words, that he's a pathological liar. Bad, bad, bad for him. This guy seems like a narcissistic charmer who thinks he can sweet talk at least one juror. After studying them for 4 weeks, maybe he thinks he has found a symapthetic one.

For the defense (though it's not required), what is this guy's motive?
He's not getting any money. No insurance. He's not escaping his fraud, or the boat, trials. Those are still coming. His drug addiction was old news for his family. That was well trod ground for them.
Why kill them, and why now?

life insurance on them.
My guess is he knew his marriage was crumbling based on pills and finances. The trouble for Paul and Alex regarding the boat was a YUGE burden. He HAD TO KNOW his financial crimes were gonna come out at some point and that was another weight on his shoulders.
So...kill the son, some of those problems go away and get insurance. Take out the wife and get insurance. Get sympothy from all around, which is what this fugging weirdo prolly wanted.
This, or he's a serial killer (see gayboy and housekeeper). He's gotten away with it before, so why not again? Dude simply thinks he is above the law, that's another problem here.

OR he caught son murdering mom for some reason, or mom murdering son. I think the second murder was a coverup for the first, whichever the first was and by whomever. I guess they could test hands for GSR and rule out my theory, but I am sticking with it.

> He HAD TO KNOW
Yeah, he had JUST been caught and confronted at work like the day before or a couple days before the killings. Maybe the guy just cracked under the pressure. Boat, drugs, lose your job from fraud, whatever else he had going on.
Killing them might have solved some of his problems, but he had so many problems I'm not sure it would solved them all. Just weird on the motive front.

Supposedly he was spending 40-50K/week for opioids. Inflation must be hell in Hampton County?
Additionally, for a guy 6'4" and weighing in at 265 at the time of the murders, he must be weaker than a guinea taking on Bubba the dog. Alex said he tried to turn Paul over. Paul was a head shorter than Alex and probably 100+ lbs lighter. In his defense Alex was a Coot football player, so who knows?
He said he tried to check both Mags and Paul Paul's pulses. What inhibited him from doing so and how did he emerge without blood on him if he actually tried this? Why would he check a pulse on Paul when Alex said he saw Paul's brain lying beside Paul? Again, he is a USC grad.
Why after months of claiming he wasn't at the kennels did he now say he was lying after all? He had months to clear this up.
Why today are we hearing about Mags and Paul Paul? I don't remember Alex using these nicknames on any of the previous interviews with the police?
I'm no legal expert, but leading off with I lied to SLED seems like a bit of a problem.
I don't believe Alex, but it would not shock me if he peels off a juror. That's all he needs.
I suspect he'll be a blubbering mess and play the victim card when the prosecutors get their shot.
Either way, this roll of the dice by Alex will either get him off or be the nail in the coffin for his conviction. It would have been very interesting to have heard the convos between his attorneys and Alex about this decision. I strongly suspect a lot of F bombs were thrown by Harpootlian.

Maggie was dead set on renovating their house in Edisto
Paul was going to go to jail for the boat crash
He just confronted about stealing and knew he was about to loose his multi-million dollar job, and couldn’t afford to keep up the lifestyle/facade and couldn’t afford to defend his son who was clearly driving the boat
In his opioid induced state, he figured he was taking them out of their misery. Did he pull the triggers or a trigger? I don’t know. Did he kill them or have them killed? Absolutely

He said something on the stand today about asking anyone how "great of a person Pawpaw was".
I'd bet his ex-girlfriend that he abused, beat and spit on would have some disagreements to that statement. By all appearances, he was an entitled, spoiled brat with (at least) an alcohol problem. Maybe he should try harder to his family as others do.
