Odd stats from last night...

We won (and by 29 pts.) a game that we got out rushed (most expected this would be the stat we needed to control to win), got dominated in time of possession (24:59 to 35:01), and ran 23 less plays. Cade, Wiggins,and basically the whole defense stepped up.

and once unc was in the red zone, the shorter field is easer to defend and our rush could be more effective. It worked.

They also showed a graphic of UNC defensive injuries and how few players they had available.
It was time on field with very limited players available.

play typically goes up and # of plays goes down. We averaged close to 9 yards per play last night before garbage time (final 2 drives). UNC was under 5.
As for rushing.. we just didn't run the ball well. We only averaged 3.2 YPC on 21 attempts. Fortunately Klubnik averaged close to 12 YPA passing. With DJ and a poor rushing effort, it's a completely different game last night... probably a very close one.

You can be guaranteed, unc was expecting the run and prepared for it. They knew it was what we were going to do, and it would habe been, until CK dominated.
The other side is that Ship always has several short runs until he wears the defense down. He gets a lot of his yards later in the game

Yeah, if we play them 10 times, we don't win 10 times. We had all the breaks go our way for the most part.

The defense played well last week. 9 points by the defense directly.
We will continue to need everyone to step up.
Resilient team. They could have held their head and let a disappointing loss LW beat them again. They didn't and i'm proud of how they played as a whole.
