Now, I don't know if dogs really drink alcohol, but I know cats do. One of my dearly departed friends had a cat named Bob. Bob was an average sized grey tabby. My friend would occasionally set down a saucer of beer for Bob, and Bob would eagerly lap it up, while us humans were also imbibing and shooting the breeze.
And then, we had free entertainment for an hour or so, as Bob would go racing up and down the hall, not putting on the brakes in time, and smashing into the wall at the end of the hall. He would just pick himself up, shake it off, and launch again. And, if he ever saw himself in the full length mirror that was mounted on one wall, he would just literally flip out (Jumping up and down.)
As we get older, we are more easily entertained by the little things in life.
