The loss of OSullivan and Corbin have had a dramatic effect on this baseball program. It is similar to football in losing Rogriguez. It is also what Brownell is trying to "patch up" in basketball.
I HATE USC with all my heart but at this point they do not kill themselves with errors. The 3-6-1 DP was ridiculous. HS baseball players execute this. You step OUT of the line to receive the throw and DO NOT throw across the body. It is one of several plays in this regional that baffle me because they WERE routine.
Cut it, slice it, spin it any way you like Tiger fans...there are multiple reasons we sit behind USC. I take nothing away from them as bad as I despise them. Bottom line is...they are a better program. We would have been a MAJOR upset to beat them in the regional. Go ahead...tell me how it was a 1 run game on both affairs..that'll make you feel better...I will tell you we are not that close to them.
I love Clemson but as in the Bowden era you better recognize a good coach from a GREAT coach. Bowden had 10 years and I would say..no clsoer or farther than jack. We fought this regional and I commend the effort but say IMHO were unequillocally the lesser team.
Its time for a REALLY REALLY hard look at our baseball program and its direction.

Have said so for years. Jack is 0-6 when it really counts against Tanner. He should have retired before Sully left. Doubt we can lure him from UF but Corbin would be a good chance at getting back. Time to admit you are outmatched Jack and do what's best for the program .

Agree 100%, IMO we have not been beaten that many times this year we have just given games away. Very bad fundamentally, cannot execute consistently, lacking a "killer" instinct and just poor baseball IQ. Need some attitude, some big bodies and some mental toughness before next season begins.

my post is meant to be a "look to the future" rather than a "jack is so 90's ". I respect the man immensly...the program, however, is stagnant..

Not necessarily saying get rid of Jack but do think the caliber of our assistants has declined. With the deadened bats, don't need a "slugger's" mentality, start slapping the ball around. Need pitchers to be more agressive, way to many BBs trying to nibble at the corners. Saw over half the home games in person and just not consistent, no intensity.

Actually we needed 2 runs to win the games.One run would have only tied them up.
