My thoughts on the Clemson SCAR rivalry ...

If you have been a gamecock fan from birth, or since the 70's/80's or graduated from that Craphole of a school then I'll allow the hole ribbing in good fun about "high five" etc. Lord knows 63-17 has given us YEARS of enjoyment.
HOWEVER!!!! If you are some Johnny come lately bandwagon fan, who has no FREAKING IDEA of the history of our rivalry, then DO NOT try and get under my skin with all this back and forth, cause YOU HAVE NO creditability, ZERO!!! it won't work. So enjoy screaming C O C K S nearly every saturday and keep puffing your chest out because your conference is great. You won't be able to ruffle my tiger stripes.
I say congrats to those who have suffered the history of gamecock football and #### off to those who have no idea.

So I go in to get my company car worked on I park head to the office and I hear Clemson Sucks, I look over at some mullet dude and he flips me off. It was Friday so I'm in Orange I go in the office and the man who greets me is also in Orange I tell him about what happened outside and that if it wasn't a company car I would go elsewhere. I come back a couple days later and am greeted by the same man in the office he tells me by the way I took care of the #### He's pumping gas across the street, turns out he was the owner.

(who are new to SCAR) Have no idea of the schools history. and I have zero respect for them. The only reason they Know lou holtz was a coach there is because he is on ESPN and spits all his garbage.
I HATE losing 5 in a row. But not a single one of my friends who are life long gamecocks have called me or said "high five" or anything to give me a hard time.
Heck, My step father ( a really good guy ) and step brother are huge Gamecock fans, and neither of them have said too much. they know we have a really good team and they know the history.
After the CU SCAR game this year, I walked in handed him my ticket from the disaster and said "here, have a souvenir" and havent heard a peep since.
It has only been the Johnny come lately fans.

The truth is that both teams are at an elite level right now - consistent top 10 finishes.
SCAR has never been there before and so their fans don't know how to act.
CLEM has been there before.
Really there's no point in arguing which team is better or has accomplished more in the past few years because you can argue both ways - i.e. BCS bowl vs. higher ranking. But the buck stops at head-to-head, that's why CLEM needs to win against SCAR again to set things completely even in the present.

From a Gamecock perspective I've found this to be very true. These are the same people who were "big" clemson fans 10-15 years ago. If the rivalry turns again, they'll go right back to supporting the tigers. It's a shame but happens everywhere I'm sure.
A good rule of thumb with these people is if you can't name an offensive lineman on your team, I'm not even gonna argue football with you.
