My mom is currently having to wait 8 months to see a neurologist

I thought the difference between us and the socialist health care in Canada was the wait times. Wonder how long they have to wait up there.

Canada has outrageously long waits, but there are other countries with similar systems that don't have waits, such as the Netheralnds. Its kind of like when people bring up socialism and point out Venezuela and not Denmark. It would be better if people just got more into the issues, because none of us really understand them because they are so nuanced.

Of course, differences in population size of the countries would seem to be a significant factor in any comparison...don't you think?

Her PCP referred her. Bob Secours said they could possibly see her sooner depending on the severity, but getting that referral sent from a competing healthcare system hasn’t been easy.

That is a heck of a statement considering all the giant losses in off-year elections. Good luck next November.

issue and found that much of the US agreed. So now, they'll have that same issue to run on in 2026.
Plus - they got Trump to try to block states from feeding hungry kids.
Expect a steady flow of impeachments coming from The House in 2027.

What was the huge issue? Their landmark legislation is a complete failure?

Their extension of Covid subsidies should last longer than THEY SAID THEY SHOULD? Everything they do sucks? What exactly was it?

Health care. I don't think Covid subsidies should be extended either. But

apparently, it's going to be a huge shot to the pocketbook for some folks.
In 2017, Trump got the WH for the Pubs and told them to come up with something better than obamacare - they had nothing better.
The Pubs are "in power" - and this will be held against them at the polls in 2026, whether it should be or not.

Actually, the GOP is making a mistake here....

The Dems were asking for the current ACA subsidy levels to get extended. If the GOP had accepted that, they could've closed off the criticism they're going to receive when premiums skyrocket on the exchanges this year. But the GOP doesn't really understand how the ACA works (MAGA doesn't do actual policy that well)....or if they do understand it, then they're good with inflicting pain this year ahead of the mid-terms.
The Dems will now be able to campaign on the GOP's infliction of healthcare premium pain on working class & middle class people. It was be a credible political attack. And MAGA walked into this, even though the Dems tried to save them from themselves.

It's honestly wild to me that the Republicans didn't agree to the compromise

because it was what 25-35 billion dollars? And as you said, it would take away their worst polling issue.
It really shows the grip Trump has on the Republican Party.
